According to Vincent Goodwill - The Pistons...featured the greatest backcourt trio of all time in Thomas, Joe Dumars and reserve Vinnie Johnson. Thoughts? This was part of a column defending the Pistons: https://sports.yahoo.com/dont-buy-into-michael-jordans-narrative-the-bad-boys-pistons-deserve-your-respect-154544792.html |

Magic, Norm Nixon and Michael Cooper were a helluva a backcourt too. Ricky Green, Dr. Dunkenstein Darrell Griffith as well. There are others quite obviously but those 3 come immediately to mind. |

My initial reaction to seeing that is hell no. But when you think about it they are probably at the very least in the top 2 or 3. Early 80s Philly backcourt was pretty salty too. |

I love the shoutout for the early 80s Philly backcourt. About a decade later I ended up teammates with one of those Philly guards on my DePaul intramural team in the 6'2 and under league Guy by the name of Franklin Edwards. he was the 3rd string PG behind Cheeks and Toney on the championship team. He later got into business and became friends with one of my buddies who was a walk on at DePaul . I think they worked together. Convicned Franklin to come play for our team and he did. Showed up to every game I think. We were already pretty stacked, but with him it was game over. I remember at one point he grabbed a rebound, took one dribble up court and then in motion threw a full court line drive bullet pass between his own legs from behind. Caught a teammate in stride on the way for a layup. Never saw anything like that before or since. 87-88 was his last year in the NBA. 5 years later he was playing intramural basketball at DePaul. https://www.basketball-reference.com/pl ... rfr01.html |

They all could play either the 1 or the 2. |
