Don't know about that one. They didn't give up any of their 'core" guys and those picks will be negligible as they are likely to all be late first round picks. I'm not a huge Mitchell fan but this trade likely makes them title contenders. Oddly enough he might be the 4th best player on the team in a year or 2. That's how good the other 3 are imo.

debatable . i agree in theory they should be good but giving up 3 first round picks is pretty risky

Only reason I say negligible is because of the fact that they have a very young core with Mitchell being the oldest at 26. They are set up to give the NBA fits for a long time if it pans out. If Mitchell is their best player (I don't think he will be in a year of 2) then they might be screwed, but if Mobley or Garland or both take that "step" into top 10-15 status then they will be scary good. I think their timetable was moved up by 2 years with Garland and Mobley coming on so strong last season. As a result I think they made a determination to go for it this year. I don't think any of the picks they gave up for Mitchell will be higher than 20-21 when it all shakes out.

Before we give the Cavs the title..that's going to be a tiny back court..Bulls should abuse them with their big guards.

And a big frontcourt. Mitchell is extremely weak on Defense but it will be offset by the fact that both Allen and Mobley are extremely good on defense. And Bob I doubt seriously if you have anyone actually "winning" the title.

True, but New York needed a jolt and few stars seem to want Dolan, his money and the tax burden.

I thought World Wide Wes would change that.

The trade works much better for Cleveland than it ever would have worked for the Knicks. It makes sense for Cleveland to go get him. I never got the Knicks thing however. They still would have been a lottery team even with him. Which would have made the picks a helluva lot more valuable.

What good are picks outside the top 3? GM's like Ainge and Presti stockpile draft picks for what? There aren't enough quality players in any draft for more than 1 to 3 picks + a couple randoms outside the top 3 being worth a damn. It's like being a billionaire in the 1880's, what are you thinking you're gonna buy with all those picks? Nothing worth the price.

NBA draft picks are like NFT's, they only have value to other suckers who delusionally believe they have value.
