Saw this morning that Jayson Tatum just signed a 5 year, $314 million dollar contract extension. Having a hard time wrapping my head around this kind of money. Been seeing a lot of guys getting some really big paychecks this offseason. I honestly don't see anybody in the league right now that I feel is worth more than $30 million a year, and even that is crazy money. Bradley Beal is the 4th highest paid player at $50 million a year? Ridiculous. |

The league gets so much money from legacy media - irrespective of people actually watching the games - and teams have tiny rosters. The money has to go somewhere. |

I just cannot fathom how they are able to pay such exorbitant salaries with so much interest being paid to offseason NFL football. |

And with all the alleged superiority that the NFL is supposed to have, there is no way that the NBA should be blowing the doors off of them salary wise is there? Basketball is the highest paid sport in the world, with the average annual salary in the NBA in 2023 being nearly $10.5 million. This is more than double the average salary in the NFL, which sits in second place at $4.5 million. |

I always thought being a lefty specialist was the dream but the way the NBA money has escalated, I’d encourage everybody to be an NBA player. |

Yeah The NBA union is probably the most powerful of the 3 Unions. I think their revenue sharing deal is the best of thec3. NbA?plays more games and might also have a higher avg ticket price too. NFL has larger stadiums of course and more players. But they only play 10 homes including exhibitions each season. That probably has something to do with it. Within the next 10 years we will probably have a $100 million per season player in the NBA |

Mike Hartenstein just signed for nearly $30 mil per year with OKC. Avg Salary in the NBA is $10.5 mil. In baseball it's $3.3 mil. |

Bagels wrote: well yea true , but i think a lot of it as already mentioned just due to the roster sizes Neither baseball nor Football will come close to a $70 million per year player in the next 10 years. NBA is big box office. |

The NBA can be happy with its #2 status as baseball continues to decline. |

The funniest thing in this thread is Dr. Style repeatedly just ignoring those who mention the difference in roster sizes. |

Far be it from me to tug at the almighty cape of footballs Helmut strap, but Basketball is nowhere near the afterthought that some of the "simple minded" types around here try and portray it to be. Remember these are the dupes that bitched and moaned about Bernstein and Goff talking Basketball during the NBA Finals. Same shit McNeil used to do too. Likely why he is dead to this city currently. It's only so MANY North Dallas Forty stories that a person can tell in one lifetime. |

You don't generate that sort of "cake' unless there is a SIZABLE MARKET for the service that you provide Tim McCarver. |

Some Belgian dude makes 55 million a year for driving a car in a sport that averaged 1.1 million tv viewers in the US last year, so that must be pretty cool for him. |

Oil money is where it’s at. Once you let sovereign wealth invest at FSU, you’ll see NIL deals in the nine figures. |

Mahomes only has to play 17 games, not 82 or 162. |
