By the way, the NHL televised their lottery drawing for the first time this year. Same process as the NBA, balls 1-14 and they draw four, 1001 possible combinations. No excuse not to do it here as well.

Sure, but why would they want to lotto another fair haired kid to a franchise with a fanbase that’ll have a hair trigger hatred?

The deal was locked in before the unanticipated Nico lynching.

You can’t let that happen and let Nico pick first. He needed to be a sacrificial lamb if this were all about getting Luka to LA.

I hope they take someone other than Flagg. Highly unlikely but would make for great tv.

A lot of dwelling on this being a thank-you note for the Doncic trade, but I'm more interested in the theory that the Adelsons will pack up the Mavericks and move to Las Vegas if they don't get their casinorena in Irving. This either puts pressure on Texas to give the Mavericks a casino, or it gives Las Vegas something much better than the expansion roster they'd get alongside the new Supersonics.

Whatever it is, it’s gay.

This is the gayest outcome imaginable.

Bill Simmons said this was going to happen in March.

The lottery results were Adam Silver's way of telling Mini Reinsdorf to fire AK immediately.

I don’t think it’s a thank you note, I think these were the terms agreed to when the deal was made. Great trade for Dallas, the NBA way overvalued Doncic.

There was talk a couple months ago that the Celtics were going to make some changes whether they won another championship or not. It's crazy to pay Horford-Tatum-Brown-Holiday-Porzingis and others $500 million next year.

It's going to be a wild offseason --- maybe the wildest since 2010.

Spurs should look to trade their 2 lottery picks. Giannis, Durant, Lakers need a big, does Devin Booker get moved, how small or big should Boston change, the Knicks have so many great pieces, etc.

If the Mavs are going to deal Cooper Flagg they should do it for Giannis right?

Used to be there was no way to trade all that cap in the NBA. Unless James approves it of course.

I think Flagg gets initially shoved in a corner in the NBA. How he adapts remains to be seen, he's super young.

The Lakers are a superstar away from a finals contender. I'm sure they don't regret the trade, they weren't going anywhere with AD but as I said at the time, the trade was bad for both teams.

Cooper Flagg will be fine and Dallas is the perfect situation for him. He doesn't have to be "generational" in order for the team to win. He also has the sort of skillset and defensive ability that just reeks of winning. The only question that I might have pertains to position. Is he a 3 or a 4. I think he can guard 3's. If he can then Dallas would have one helluva frontline

I think he’s a Luol Deng type long term, though not sure he’ll be as good a defender.

He has more in his offensive bag than Deng. Better handle and passer right now. You can play him in the middle of the floor and he'll make a play for you With Deng you could never do that.
I don't think he will ever be a go to scorer but definitely a No. 2 scorer on a good team.

He’s not the finisher Deng was yet. I think he tops out as a poor man’s Kawhi, which is where I’d throw Deng.

He’ll live off mid-range and open dunks.

Deng couldn't dribble or pass. Nor was he the athlete that Flagg happens to be. But if Flagg can have a Luol Deng type career, that wouldn't be too bad. I just think Flagg has more upside than Deng. Time will tell however
