Boston explodes out of the gate moving the ball around and playing great defense. Up 8-0 a couple minutes in. Im really looking forward to this game, and the Bud Light is tasting much sweeter with the news of the Bulls top pick.

Wow. I can't believe that after the Bulls got the number one pick that they decided to continue with this year's meaningless playoffs. David Stern should have just handed the Bulls the trophy in preparation for the Bull's domination of the league for the next decade.

or DJ Augustin, another "small guard", which they don't need.

Garnett vs. Rasheed Wallace is gonna be fun all series long. Im already thoroughly enjoying the matchup 18 minutes into it.

Im guessing Im the only one in Chicago actually watching the basketball game, but we have a great game at halftime. 41-40 Celts.

I would have to seriously question staying a Bulls fan. That would be a tough blow to take.

I hope Nas is watching my guy Rondo out there tonight. Wreaking havoc in the open court defensively and doing a nice job setting guys up. He's playing well.

I'm watching and cheering relentlessly for Da Pistons. Unfortunately, it looks like another Boston home game. :(

Pistons have looked lost on offense all night. They need to keep feeding it to Rasheed because he seems to be hitting his shots.

Yeah but when they double team him he's not doing the right thing with it. Marc Jackson correctly pointed out Stuckey didnt tell him about that Rondo steal, but besides that he hasnt passed well out of double teams. But yeah, he does seem like the only one to give a shit offensively. Boston's defense has been damn near perfect this game though.

If the Celtics play defense like they did tonight they can beat any team still alive, anywhere.

rondo canned a couple big jumpers when the game was still within reach. he clearly is a great energy guy on defense. garnett looked impressive as well.

Garnett looked like a leader today. It was really nice to see. Rondo will struggle with bigger guards occasionally, but he's an awesome defender for it being his second season. Perkins was big on the boards and defensively. It was fun to watch the Celts tonight.

Billups injury still appears to be bugging him. He was a few steps slow all night.

KG had a great game and this was the KG we expected to see against Atlanta. However, if recent history is correct don't look for him to play like this all series. The Pistons will regroup and find an answer for him and if Ray Allen continues to struggle and Pierce continues to be streaky, their only other go-to guy will be Rondo.

Regarding Rondo, his game has some flaws and quirks but he's slowly becoming one of my favorite players to watch. When Boston signed Sam Cassell, I expected Rondo to be sitting on the bench late in the fourth quarter of games but he's been the first option at PG, which is a testament to how far he's come along as a player.

I agree, Perkins killed them on the boards. McDyess, Sheed and Maxiell have to figure out how to keep that guy from cleaning the glass like he did last night. Hopefully they'll make some adjustments and steal game 2 on the road. If the Pistons take a game in Boston, they will win the series.

Yes, on the road. That was my point. I agree they suck on the road, but they dont play D like they can. Im saying they are the best defensive team in the league when everyone is trying 100%, better than the Spurs even.

Spot on Kid, but Im not sure this Boston team is incapable of winning on the road. Right now its as much mental as anything else, and my boy Rondo needs to step up as much as any in that category. Also its tough to win a championship with Doc Rivers coaching your team. I cant remember the last time a team won a title without a consistent rotation throughout the playoffs.

I still think Boston has as good a chance as any of the four left to win it all. They need to win Game 2, and I think they will. Game 3 will be a Show-Me game.

"Hey, didnt you used to be Ray Allen?"

Boring game overall. Bad defense and bad discipline by the Celtics. KG was forced to play away from the paint too often because of Sheed hangin on the perimeter.

Well, I wanted to see Detroit steal one in Boston. This was how I expected Detroit to look in game 1. Despite Boston's poor collective efforts, Ray Allen had a hell of a performance though. I said it before: if the Pistons could steal one in Boston, they'll win the series. I still believe that.

This is where I wanna see what Thibodeau can do. We all know Doc is no tactician as a coach, and the defensive schemes are up to Thibs. I want to see him adjust his D to keep KG in the paint but not give up open threes to Sheed. They got way too many good looks at the hole.

I think Boston will take a game in Detroit.

Some good unintentional comedy before the game when the Celtics are huddled up, Pierce goes "Come on guys, we only 2 wins away from our goal, er..uh, we 2 wins away from getting closer to our goal."

Good stuff.

Detroit was bound to start off fast. Boston just needs to survive this 1st quarter, and chip away after that. Just give themselves a chance to steal this game in the 4th quarter.

I really like Billups, I think he's a top 5 Point Guard when healthy, but hes hurting them right now. As well as Stuckey has been playing, you gotta give him more minutes as long as the hamstring isnt 100%.

Agreed. As much as it sucks for Detroit to not have Billups on the floor, they really need to at least pick their spots for him, and give him plenty of rest.

I gotta agree with Jackson and Van Gundy, there is no way Ratliff should be getting any kind of serious minutes with as well as Maxiell and McDyess have been playing.

Watching the Doc vs. Flip coaching matchup is sad when you can flip on the other series and see a Pops and Phil matchup. The gap between the two is ridiculous.

Agreed. Not sure what that was all about. If you needed fouls against a Shaq type inside force, fine, but they shouldn't need him in this series.

Im on record as saying I really enjoy this booth, but I cant believe Van Gundy just suggested that Prince would be a better post scoring option than Maxiell or McDyess. I can understand maybe the Maxiell angle but McDyess has played an excellent offensive game tonight, especially considering at the moment PJ Brown is guarding him.
