Now this I really don't understand. The Suns allegedly gave up the run & gun by trading for Shaq and bringing in Terry Porter. Now they've gotten rid of some good defensive players for someone who thrives in a run & gun? Huh? Can they make up their mind? Are they panicking?

I get the feeling management didn't like Diaw...still is an awful trade for the Suns, good for the Knicks...

Bell has been pissy with the move to the deliberate style of Porter and Diaw's playing time has been reduced since Amare came back. Phoenix now gets a solid scoring guard to pair up with Nash and Shaq. I like this deal for Phoenix.

Why is it good for the Knicks?

The Knicks are not involved in this trade.

It was Jason Richardson from Charlotte.

wow 2 NBA guys in Nas and Cof do not know the actual teams involved in a trade. Priceless

And to think I almost voted for Nas in poster of the year
and cof in rookie of the year.

Simply, it gives you that go to shooting guard that can play the two man game with Shaq. JRich will also do good work on the defensive end. It's not like he's not going to play defense.

How does this deal work out for Charlotte? I think they have more moves to make, but they now have Raja Bell (once a very good defender, but has slipped) at SG, and Raymond Felton at PG (even though he's not a true PG). Their best PG is D.J. Augustin, and, despite having the worst offense in the league, they continue to sit him on the bench. He should be playing 30-35 minutes a night. Boris Diaw is expected to play PF over Sean May, and Gerald Wallace is at SF.

What a mess.

Plus they're rumored to be shopping Wallace to the Timberwolves. Yikes

What's the rumor there? Haven't heard that one.

Whats wrong with Jason Richardson? Seems like hes really good but 3 teams in 3 years tells me hes not

He's a good player, and was Charlotte's 1st or 2nd best player (I'd take Wallace over him).

They traded Richardson, their 2nd best player, and are rumored to be trying to trade their best player, Wallace.

Who do you think is better, right now?

I do like Augustin - he's played well, and should be starting at PG. Unfortunately, they have Raymond Felton shooting bricks at PG, and he's undersized for SG.

Okafor isn't a bad player, but he's not a difference maker.

The team is a mess.

BTW, Gerald Wallace to the Minnesota Timberwolves for two expiring contracts (Jason Collins and Rashad McCants) is totally bogus, according to Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins.

now that I'm properly informed, yes it's a great trade for PHO and yet another hairbrained trade for the Boobcats. Felton is their best performer right now, not DJ...

Felton is a below 40% shooter in his career (39% this season). He's not a true point guard, and is too small to play SG.

Augustin is their PG of the future, and he's played good as a rookie. Give him that job, and make Felton a 6th man.

As for Phoenix, are they changing their style of play? They trade for Shaq, and become more of a half court team. Now, they trade their best perimeter defender for Richardson, who's not known for his defense at all.

I agree with you. I was hoping you could offer something different than what I was thinking. That means MJ and the gang are out of their fucking minds.

Gotcha. I believe they also took on a lot of salary in that deal as well with Diaw and Bell's contract's. They have a collection of parts that don't fit together.

Post subject:  Re: Richardson to Suns for Bell & Diaw

Contract data:

Raja Bell is making 4.8 Million/year and will be a free agent in 2010
Boris Diaw is making 9 Million/year and will be a free agent in 2012
Sean Singletary is making the minimum and has a team option in 2010.

Jason Richardson was making 11 Million a year and is signed through 2011
Jared Dudley is on his rookie deal making 1.4 Million a year and will be a free agent in 2011 after a team option for year 4.

Looking after 2010, Charlotte will now have something like 14 Million off the books (assuming they don't resign Felton and May after this year)

I'm guessing they won't resign May
