This article from yahoo.com surprised me. I didnt realize this injury was that severe and Wojo usually doesnt write shock-value articles.

The Rockets and Yao’s reps are frightened over his future, and the concern is the most base of all: Does Yao Ming ever play again?

Yao Ming had what looked like a solid NBA career with the Houston Rockets and this broken left foot he injured in the recent NBA Playoffs could cut it short big time, no pun intended. Many NBA insiders & front office executives are pessimistic that Yao can come all the way back from this injury and will be shocked if he'll ever play another minute of basketball again.

Shark Translation:

Yao may or may not play again.

You have to wonder if leaving him in that game may have made it worse.

You also have to wonder if the stress of playing NBA seasons and then almost immediately with the Chinese team added to it to.

Wasn't he supposedly playing injured and hurting through the whole 2008 olympics?

What surprises me the most is that something like this never happened to Shaq. With the punishment he received and gave out every year he has had a long career.

Yeah but Yao is still even much taller than Shaq. I have to think that extreme height is really hard on the knees and feet.

Yeah not too mention that Yao was fiercely loyal to his national team and pretty much revolved his whole calendar year around basketball. Shaq was lazy as hell since he won his MVP and took 6-8 months off a year, including the start of the season alot of times.
