Yeah its strange. I always had respect for Bryan Colangelo and thought he was one of the few decent basketball minds left in the front office. This is just a dumb move. No other way to put it.

Calderon was banged up last season, and Jack can back up there as well as offer another scoring option. I don't think he's going to start there, but he could be a good 3rd guard.

Yeah i don't see what's so outrageous about 5 mil/per

Jack is a solid scorer and can give you pretty good numbers as a starter; I'm sure even moreso off the bench

Compared to some other NBA contracts I don't really find this really out there at all.

I mean he averaged 13 PPG and 4 APG on 45% shooting and added a steal PG...that's not bad. I'm not in any way saying he could be an MVP or anything so don't twist what I'm saying, but I think he's a very solid 6th man and for the mid-level exception I think that's a pretty fair rate.

He wasn't overpaid by NBA standards - he got the mid level deal, I believe. I think it's a good signing - he provides scoring/depth in their backcourt.
