Reminds me of the Warriors signing Adonal Foyle for similar money a few years back What are these GM's thinking? Gortat is a solid backup, but that's it. Realistically he's a 7th or 8th man. He did fill in well for the game Howard was suspended against the Sixers. I guess all you need to do to get a big contract is have one good game. |

The Mavs are hurting on the frontcourt now. Bass signed with the Magic and now Gortat is not going to happen. |

Gortat was impressive as a backup to Howard, but this is wasted money. I believe the Magic are already going to be over the salary cap, and paying Gortat, as impressive a backup as he was last season, is not good money to spend considering that Howard is always going to put a severe limit on his playing time. |
