OKC, I like this deal that your Mavs are rumored to be making- Howard, Quinton Ross and Gooden for Caron Butler, Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson

i mean i like it as far as Dallas goes, haywood would give them someone to theoretically matchup with Bynum or Duncan or other bigs. I think Butler would be really good on that team- Kidd, Butler, Marion, Nowitzki and Haywood? That's a nice starting lineup

so there...i'm taking a break from my Mavs bashing- i like this trade for them and think that would be a formidable starting lineup. plus still have terry and dampier off the bench...deep.

The sad fact is for the Wiz who need more than help cap wise, this only frees them up about 3M if they keep Howard around past this year. They do have an option on him for next season so in theory it could free up 14M. The Wiz must be hoping they can cancel the contract of Arenas to have some real dough to chase FAs

Yeah I agree Bagels, I think this would be a real solid team after the trade. I dont think it puts them in the same class as the Lakers, but possibly the second best team in the West. We already know they can matchup and beat the Spurs.

From the Washington Post:

The Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks have now completed a swap of Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson for Josh Howard, Drew Gooden and two other players on Saturday.

They surrendered Butler, Haywood and Stevenson in what essentially is a salary dump that provides almost $15 million in cap relief for the 2010-11 season. Ross is the only player the Wizards receive who is signed through next season. The deal would also provide nearly $2.6 million in luxury tax relief this season for the Wizards, who will ship out $19.7 million in salaries while getting back $17.3 million. Coupled with the savings that the Wizards will already receive for suspensions to Arenas and Crittenton, the luxury tax penalty could be reduced by nearly $7 million.

Good move but I still believe the Spurs and Nuggets will be better when the playoffs start.

I'm on the fence regarding the Spurs, they look very old some nights, and their defense has been poor at times this season.

Clips deal Camby for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake.

Blazers needed front court help with Oden and Pryzbila out for the year. Not sure what else this does for them other than keeps them in the playoffs, only to be bounced in round 1. As for the Clips, who knows what they are doing? Perhaps Outlaw is a long term piece. Blake is a journeyman.

yeah, not really sure about this one. from what i read all contracts are expiring, so it's not really a money issue for either team. you're right, i suppose this keeps the Blazers afloat but they're still going to have issues if Roy is not healthy for the 2nd half. and the clippers....total puzzle there, I don't get it at all.

The Blazers' acquisition of Marcus Camby this afternoon from the Clippers likely crosses the Bulls and Tyrus Thomas off the list. Thomas might end up staying here, whether he likes it or not, the rest of the season if he's not dealt by Thursday's 2p deadline.

Drew Gooden is working on a buyout with the Wizards and would like to take the 30 days off and come back to the Mavs.

Sixers are likely standing pat.

The Knicks have made a move. Nate Robinson has reportedly been dealt to the Celtics, according to Newsday. NBCSports.com adds that Eddie House and a draft pick have been sent to New York. It may only be the beginning...

Looks the Knicks are balking at the TMac deal. They don't want to give up the picks and rookie Jordan Hill.

I can't understand why the Celtics would trade House for Nate. I believe that makes their team worse. Eddie was good at knocking down the outside shot. What will Nate provide that they don't have? Bad move.

I'm not seeing this trade other than Nate might be a bit better on the defensive end than House and he's fresh going into the final stretch of the year. He also would give a touch more salary relief next year.

As reported at the end of B&B, Cavs pursuit of Amare appears to be over for now...3 way deal

Cavs get Antwan Jamison

Wiz get Al Thornton, Brian Skinner, Cavs 1 and Z Ilgauskas.

Clips get Drew Gooden

Great move for the Cavs. Jamison is a better fit and Big Z will be back in a month.

I still wonder if they would have preferred waiting for Amare, but Twan will get them good production from the 4 spot.

I don't think Amare and Shaq would work. At the very least Jamison is an excellent outside option for LeBron.

And they didn't have to give up Hickson.

Agreed on Jamison, but I think Amare and Shaq could have worked.

Shaq and Amare didn't work in PHX because Shaq just didn't fit in that system. I think they would have been ok on the Cavs.

If you're Lebron, do you want to be playing along side a 35 year old Jamison in 3 years, who will be making something like $14M?

in any case, I'm happy for Jamison...not that I'd ever root for the Cavs but I'm still happy he's playing for a contender and has a chance to win a title. as an ongoing Warriors fan, I saw him play for a long time and he had to play on a lot of shitty GS teams. good for him.

Jared Jeffries is no longer on the bench for the Knicks after playing 6 minutes in the first half....he was probably told that he was going to be traded.

So if Amare isn't going to the Cavs or Heat, will he just end up staying with the Suns for the rest of the year or is there another team in the picture?

He's probably got the flu like Nate Robinson, right?

Just read on CBSsports that the Grizzlies tried to get Monta Ellis from Golden State and offered up OJ Mayo.
