This is just classless and unnecessary. He seems to be the classic case of a celebrity that gets so insulated in his little bubble by his people that he lives in an alternate reality. Cleveland treated him like Jordan since he was in 8th grade and while they clearly were mad the way he left he's still done much more to them in the last year than he did to them.

Note: I am not talking about him leaving. I have no problem with him leaving Cleveland. It's virtually everything else.

Just read that story before I saw your post. he says it's him playing up the "villain" role

I guess I wouldn't have much of an issue if he was taking shots or talking trash in a game he's actually playing in; but to comment on a game you're not even involved in seems pretty classless and also fairly rare...I can't recall to many instances of players taking to the media to comment (trash talk) on other NBA games. Plenty of players in the league have left teams under less than amicable situations and not stooped to this

That tweet may be childish, but I'm not sure how I would feel if the CEO at the last place I worked had taken out a full page ad in the Tribune basically calling me a douchebag. Maybe I'd make a bratty tweet too. If I had a Twitter account. One thing I know. I'd be glad to see his company fail.

Anyway, like most athletes LeBron is disconnected from reality to a large degree. But hell, it's just a comment on a basketball game. When I opened this thread I expected to see that he had run a dog fighting ring or raped a girl in a bathroom or driven the getaway car as Maverick Carter robbed a 7-11.

I heard Mike & Mike discuss this topic for a minute during a Mully & Hanley commercial and the coverage cracked me up. Greenberg prefaced it by saying "I don't know if you've read Lebron's tweets yet this morning...." and I'm thinking "What the fuck? Why would anyone want to read Lebron James' tweets?"

I can understand following a comedian, columinst/writer, or even an interesting rapper (@pharoahemonch is where it's at. the first tweet I ever saw from the guy was "Congrats to the Detroit Lions for winning their first game since Lincoln freed the slaves!") and actually "Lebron" seems to talk to people, firing off thank yous to Lala and encouragement to the muttslayer

@BrandonWeems10 yes sir! Thanks lil bro. Haaaaa, yeah keep them sparklers in the back. Nothing swag bout them things

I'll don the tinfoil hat and guess that LBJ Inc. has one of his buddies collecting a salary to make semi-frequent updates for him, making sure to drop buzzwords from pop-street/balck culture and essentially humanize the guy on his quest to become a billionaire. The whole thing makes me wanna go all Holden Caulfield and scream "PHONY!" until people call me a brilliant recluse.

i would never defend what Gilbert did because obviously it was childish and silly. that said it was in reaction to James' 3 ring circus. in other words James was the one that started all of it. i doubt it LeBron had left the Cavs in a "normal" manner that Gilbert would have done the same thing. maybe he would have, but I doubt it.

also your comment on it not being a big deal- sure in and of itself it's not the worst thing that he could have done. you're right, he could have raped someone. but we rail on people here every day for making stupid/dumb/inflammatory comments and this is far from an isolated incident. it's not like just now, with this tweet, we're learning James is a douchebag. It's a continuation of behavior

The fans and owner deserve every bit of trashtalk that LeBron throws that way. Kick the organization while they're down and step on their throat. That's what they deserve for being beyond classless.

The ones who don't deserve any of that are the guys on that team. They all liked him and gave him nothing but love when the Cavs played the Heat

I also like him playing the villain role. Everyone had/has a negative opinion about his way of leaving Cleveland. He has the right to stick it to everyone

I'd have no problem if he called out the CEO. I don't think that's what the tweet was about. I think it was as much about the fans as it was the owner.

I don't think Lebron is a bad guy. I just think he's clueless and doesn't understand basic things that most normal people would know from life experience because he's been surrounded by people who use him to make money and have from a young age. He just seems disconnected from reality more than most other athletes and I think that's sad.

Aside from the owners letter, which there is no defense for- how was the organization classless? a free agent of yours goes on national TV in a huge media circus to basically dump you and embarrass you and you say the CAVS are the ones that are classless?

yeah, actually the players are the ones that deserve all this shit. they're the ones that deserve it. for being pussies and laughing and joking w/ Lebron while they're team is getting pummeled. For losing by 55 to the Lakers last night. they shouldn't get a free pass

no. you were inferring that because i said i think people pay too much attention to tweets that i'm OK with them. and then you posed it as a question for some reason.

we all know lebron is a child and an asshole. this is hardly news.

You could say that his mom "raised" Delonte too.

Twitter is awesome for allowing people to make asses of themselves. If Maverick was anything other than a fucking idiot himself he would ban lebron from every using the thing. I love it though....he should keep em coming.

They allowed him and his friends to run the organization. The Reinsdorf approach may have brought he down to Earth a little.

maybe for THEM (the cavs) it was bad, certainly

so catering to Lebron's every whim makes Lebron hate them and mock them. got it

LeBron James is not on my fantasy team.

edit: Why be a dick? It is quite obvious why I posted that. If you're too dull to understand, you have the ability to keep your sarcasm to yourself. Maybe.

actually, I have no idea why you posted it so why don't you tell me.

I think telling him no would have brought him down to Earth and it would have them in the position they are in now. No we don't want Larry Hughes. No we don't want a washed up Ben Wallace. No we aren't taking on Shaq's contract. No we aren't taking on Jamison's contract when we could have cap money to sign a prized free agent. No your friends can't ride on our team plane or practice with us.

IF you remove the Gilbert letter from consideration, OTHER THAN THAT- what did the Cavs do that was classless?
