I agree with all of these, but I am not 100% sold on Iverson. Yeah, he had some monster seasons, but he broke down very quickly. He was great until the age of 30, but there was a huge drop off after he left Philly. I know all players have some decline, but he was almost invisible his left 5 years in the league. He will probably get in just because of his name, but I would just put him in the Hall of Very Very Good.

Ray Allen in and not AI,in 2007-2008 AI was the 3rd leading scorer.

That was 4 seasons ago. I said 5. I was off by 1 year. My bad. His drop off at the age of 30 is still very real though.

I disagree on the AI doubt. Paul Pierce, that's different. But Iverson played 14 seasons and led the league in minutes played per game 7 of those years. Being surprised that a 6 ft 160 pound guard might break down a little is to be expected, especially since he played so much and so aggressively. However, I don't really see the drop off at 30 that shows AI isn't an HOFer. First of all, even if there was a drop off at 30, there was 9 great years prior that were HOF worthy. That aside, he averaged 33 ppg, 26.3 ppg and 26.4 ppg at the ages of 30, 31 and 32 repectively and played an average of 72 games. He only played (more like was paid by an NBA team) for 2 more seasons. I don't see the drop. At least not one that outweighs the rest of his career, and that was only the last 2 years. He played 12 seasons in a row while scoring at least 26.3 ppg in the last 10 years, and then fizzled out in the last 2 years of his 14 year career. 11 time all-star, league MVP, led the league in scoring 4 times. He's a lock.

Iverson had 10 great seasons, 2 very good seasons (his first 2), and 2 mediocre seasons at ages 33 and 34. His dropoff wasn't that abnormal, and even if it was, he has enough great seasons that it doesn't matter. He's a lock.

If not, they should.

Jerry Krause, the general manager for six Bulls championship teams, and Johnny Bach, assistant coach for three, are new nominees for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2012, league sources said. NBA.com first reported the news.

Krause, currently a scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks, spent 18 seasons with the Bulls and earned NBA Executive of the Year honors following the 1987-88 and 1995-96 seasons.

Though some have discredited his accomplishments because he inherited Michael Jordan, he hired Hall of Fame coaches in Phil Jackson and assistant Tex Winter; acquired Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen's draft rights in a trade; traded for Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman and scouted and helped draft Hall of Famers Jerry Sloan, Wes Unseld and Earl Monroe as a scout for the Baltimore Bullets.

Let's stand up to the Tea Party Tammy's a progressive ready to lead
TammyDuckworth.comBach spent 56 years coaching in the NBA and college ranks, drawing widespread attention and credit for his defensive work and unconventional motivational tactics. Known as the architect of the Bulls' "Doberman" defense, Bach, a Navy veteran, would sprinkle his speeches with military references and drop the ace of spades — the card of death — after impressive outings.

NBA.com reported that former Bulls coach Dick Motta will be a holdover on the ballot, which could mean a decidedly Bulls-feel in Springfield, Mass., for the fourth straight year. Michael Jordan went in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009, followed by Pippen in 2010 and Rodman, Winter and Artis Gilmore earlier this year.

Getting nominated is the first step towards enshrinement. Finalists are typically announced in late February and the Class of 2012 will be announced at the NCAA Final Four in New Orleans.

I don't think anyone on the probable list is going to get in. I was wondering about Stephan Marbury. He seems to have been Derrick Rose before Derrick Rose: an explosive PG who could both score and dish. He was a top 5 player before fading into irrelevance during his NY years.

Happens to everyone, no big deal. Now that I think about it, Rodman's admission may have paved the road for someone like Wallace. And Bosh has already anointed himself to be a HOF'er, and I don't think he was being unreasonable. I'm too lazy to look up his numbers right now, but I think he's been a consistent 20-22 and 10-12 guy throughout his time in Toronto, which lasted for some seven years or so. His numbers have decreased in Miami, but now you've got to throw in a championship, and probably anywhere from one to three more before he retires, assuming all things remain the same.

he was irrelevant the moment he decided to cross KG because he wanted to be #1...turned out real good for him...

That is true, but in terms of individual success, he did make out all right. During his peak, which I'll put from about 1998-2005, he averaged around 21-24 points per game with 7-9 assists and a steal. He was probably never the ideal teammate or consummate professional, but he could play with anyone during that time frame.

I don't know if he will get in, but I wonder if he will eventually merit consideration.

While we're on the topic of point guards, does anyone think Gary Payton was better than Jason Kidd? I recall Kidd was the more celebrated PG during his prime, but I would take GP over him. I caught both at the end of their respective primes, but there's something about GP's ability to take over games both defensively and offensively when he was at the absolute peak of his abilities. On the post-Kemp Seattle teams, he was in the difficult position of being the team's primary passer and shot maker, and he managed to average around 22 points and 8 assists. I thought that was an incredible stretch during his career, something that went unnoticed since Seattle became such an irrelevant team during the late 90s and early 2000s.

Kidd's offensive ability cannot match GP, and because GP is either Kidd's equal or superior on defense, and not that far behind on playmaking ability, I think you have to take GP over Kidd.

Forget about top 5, at no point in Marbury's career was he ever considered even a top 10 player.
