Per Adrian Woj @ Yahoo:

To Nets: Deron Williams, Dan Gadzuric

To Utah: Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, 2 1st Round Picks

To Golden State: Troy Murphy

Wow!

does this mean Sloan is coming back to Utah now?

has the stock of Williams fallen that much?

2 first rounders, Favors and Harris does sound like a lot...but for a (supposed) top 3/4 PG?

Just heard it on W&S. This one caught me by surprise. I didn't even know Williams was on the trade block.

So does this mean CP will sign with the hated Knicks when his contract is up? Its been floated around before already

I think Devin Harris is under-rated as a player, but from what I've seen of Favors, he's over-rated.

I don't think CP3 is going to take the paycut to go to NY - between Amare and Melo, that's well over $42MM on a $57MM cap. And with the new CBA, there is no way the owners will bend on a soft cap vs having a hard cap.

there's going to be no good players left in the West

The knicks do not have the cap room to sign a third guy.

I do.

Wow, the league just kinda feels weird now. Like Bagels pointed out, there are only a few power teams left in the West, and the Lakers and Spurs are both gonna be done after this year. Dallas is good, but I don't consider them a powerhouse. Next year, OKC will easily be the team to beat in the West.

Woj adds that the Nets are also getting Brandan Wright from Golden State and the Nets are sending the Jazz $3MM.

Great, great trade for the Brooklyn Nets.

Unbelievable trade for the Nets. This definitel caught many people by surprise, I assume.

Especially the Knicks ....

For what the NYKs paid for Melo and the Nets turnaround and give up Favors/DHarris/Cash/T Murphy (who was sitting at home) for Brandon Wright, Dan Gadzuric and Deron Freaking Williams - unbelievable.

The Knicks-Nets rivalry is going to really heat up. In my opinion, the Nets are setting themselves up much better for long term success and they have made it clear that they are going to try and take as much market share from the Knicks as they can.

What's the reaction in NY Rick?

I wouldn't exactly be lauding the acquisition of Gadzuric and Wright......

it's definitely a good trade for them seeing as Harris has fallen a bit, but they're also giving up on Favors pretty early and giving up 2 first rounders, which will be at least middle of the 1st round. its not like they stole him for nothing

I still listen to Chicago sports radio because NY sports radio is 10 times worse.

Basically though, the Knicks getting Melo makes them elite. The Nets aren't a story yet because they are still in New Jersey.

Agree - was just laying out what the package is. Gadzuric is hot garbage and Wright has never really gotten serious run in Golden State.

I would say Deron Williams is a better piece to build around, over Carmelo Anthony.

I like Williams, but there are a glut of great PG's in the league right now. There aren't ever really a glut of 20+ PPG scorers who can get to the line consistently and create their own shot

Don't disagree, but is the ability to create your own shot that important of a trait in the D'Antoni offense? Isn't that offense all about ball movement?

Between Amare, Melo and Billups there isn't going to be a whole lot of ball movement

I disagree. he was probably the best player on the team, it might also have been Wallace, but the point being that they didn't have a true superstar and it was a more "team" approach. he definitely was not far and away the best player on the team or who the team was constructed around

I guess this is what you call saving face. It's really awful trade for New Jersey. They gave up too much to get what won't likely be a huge upgrade. I'm guess Utah has to make a deal too. You can't play 3 PF at the same time. I guess that's a probably they're willing to deal with later while they count their loot.

So you would take Allen Iverson instead of Jordan too?
