Out of respect to the "Rose vs Jordan" thread started in the Chicago Bulls section, I will move that conversation here. Hijacking threads sucks and I apologize.

A questions for the group:

If the NBA did another "50 Greatest Players of All Time" special 10 years from today, what percentage of that list would be players who started their career after the year 1996?

If your bar is set at Kevin Martin and John Salmons then 100%.

Well to start, we'd have to determine who these players after '96 who would merit consideration might be.

I did a quick perusal of drafts and came up with a partial list. Feel free to paste it and add in any other candidates.

Allen Iverson
Steve Nash
Tim Duncan
Vince Carter
Dirk Nowitzki
LeBron James
Dwyane Wade
Dwight Howard
Chris Paul
Kevin Durant
Derrick Rose
Blake Griffin

Agreed, although that is a somewhat different discussion. I would put in a Ray Allen easily over Carter. Carter is a great talent, but never really showed he could play with a team or win anything.

Because it's a list of players who might come up for consideration. I wouldn't put him on there.

The only slam dunks to me are Duncan and Kobe, the rest need more of a body of work but who knows what the landscape will look like by 2021.

When all is said and done, I PREDICT at least 35% of the top 50 players end up being post-1996.

Plus, even though he started in '92, Chris Webber makes that list as well.

I think you could say the same thing about 1980-1996 though.
