Or he's the only thing the Celtics can get any value in return for. |

Maybe they're gonna go full rebuild. They're not winning this year and Garnett, Allen, and Pierce aren't gonna be around much longer. If you can get a quality player and a couple picks including a high one, go for it. |

Because Rondo is a sonofabitch and can't hit a jump shot. Boston would be best served dealing him to New York for Jeremy Lin and Tyson Chandler. |

The always outspoken Charles Barkley from Turner Sports was on yesterday's "Dan Patrick Show". Charles believes that the Magic can't afford to keep Dwight Howard beyond the NBA Trade Deadline and risk getting nothing in return for the unhappy big man. He also feels that the Lakers should deal Andrew Bynum or Pau Gasol to get Howard. Barkley also feels that one of the playoff contenders out West will make a deal in the next week to 10 days that'll go a long way in determining the Western Conference rep in the NBA Finals this June. |

Woody Paige just suggested on Around The Horn that the Lakers should try to trade for Lamar Odom. And he was serious. |

Bulls should have traded Boozer & Noah for Gasol. |

Lakers will end up with Beasley too. They're trying to work out a 3 or 4 team trade and Orlando is involved. You heard it here first. |

What other assets outside of Pau do the Lakers have to acquire Beasley? Minnesota is hanging up if all you are dangling is someone like Robertson and a pick. |

Wolves already offered Beasley for a 1st rounder and Lakers hung up i assume they feel Williams is going to be the SF of the future and just trying to get anything for Beasley. Beasley is super frustrating to me. he has the skills and has some great games...just seems so disinterested and kind of lazy don't blame the Wolves for seeing if someone will bite still want them to get Allen |

Why would Memphis give him up? Ray Allen? Why would Minny want him? |

Ray I agree it wouldn't make much sense long term since Wolves wouldn't want to resign him (although they could) and their window isn't 'now' but it's an expiring deal for C's, maybe they could get something of value from the Wolves....picks, Beasley, pretty much anything but Love Rubio or Williams. it's really everything the Wolves need- a deadly outside shooter , someone who could make teams pay for doubling Love and collapsing on Rubio |

this is obviously assuming the Celtics are giving up....if they were to trade Rondo, why not trade Allen too |

Bagels wrote: this is obviously assuming the Celtics are giving up....if they were to trade Rondo, why not trade Allen too They should give up and trade Allen. They aren't winning anything significant this year or next. But Ainge is an idiot to trade Rondo unless he gets a franchise player or top 3 pick in return. See Phoenix circa 2001. |

Keeping Score wrote: Warriors owner Joe Lacob has no interest in sending Monta Ellis to Orlando to help the Magic keep Dwight Howard, wanting instead to preserve his own slim chances of landing the All-Star center, league sources told CBSSports.com Tuesday. The Magic's attempt to put together a three-team deal that would've sent Ellis to Orlando and Andrew Bogut from Milwaukee to Golden State didn't pass muster with the Warriors' owner. The scenario was motivated by the Magic's ongoing efforts to appease Howard by acquiring a top-flight talent in the hopes that he stays. Howard's representatives reiterated to teams inquiring about him in recent days that his No. 1 choice remains the Nets, and also revealed that he has a list of several players he'd like to play with, a person familiar with the situation said Tuesday. Ellis, the Warriors' electrifying guard, is on the list, the person said. Nets point guard Deron Williams is presumed to be on it as well, though Howard's desire for new teammates is unclear beyond that. It only added to the absurdity of the Howard sweepstakes after it was reported Tuesday that the Magic have promised to allow Howard to decide whether Magic GM Otis Smith and coach Stan Van Gundy would be retained after the season -- a preposterous notion that would completely undermine the organization's ability to navigate the decision of whether or not to trade him. Orlando executives are planning to explore upgrades to the roster that would satisfy Howard until Wednesday, at which point they will shift to the franchise-shaping decision of whether to trade their superstar by Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline or wait until the summer. As for Bogut, who has not commented publicly on a reported trade request, the Warriors continue to pursue a trade for the 7-foot Australian outside of the three-team framework that would've involved Orlando. The Bucks also have spoken with the Wizards about Bogut, but the two sides "couldn't get the numbers to match up," a source said. The Rockets have been informing teams that they're backing away from a potential deal for Bogut to pursue other avenues. It's a tactic they've used before, such as prior to the 2010 deal that sent Tracy McGrady to New York. But one person familiar with Houston's strategy said the Rockets don't want to jeopardize other deals while they wait for a decision from the Bucks. A trade for Bogut would be complicated because the Bucks would have to find a landing spot for Stephen Jackson and the $10 million he is owed next season. i think that's foolish, the Warriors don't really have a chance...but I am pleased they aren't willing to assist Orlando i still can't get over the fact they're letting him decide if Van Gundy and Smith stay or not that can't possibly be true |

If all this drags out and it's coming down to the deadline, what would you think about the Bulls making a run at Howard for just a 3 month rental? Noah + Charlotte Pick + Jimmy Butler? + Omer? for Howard That's still probably better than most offers Orlando will receive before the deadline. |

According to Comcast SportsNet New England, Celtics' V.P. Danny Ainge says that Rajon Rondo won't be dealt before the NBA Trade Deadline Thursday. I think you can put that to rest. |

If the report is true that the Lakers turned down a Rondo for Gasol deal everyone in the Lakers front office should be fired immediately. That would be one of the dumbest decisions ever. If I were Kobe I would request a trade to the Bulls again. |
