Dearest NasHOVA,

I would like to take this time to issue my heartfelt apology for giving you a hard time about your consistent assertation that the Chicago Bulls (at the time) should not seek the services of one Dwight Howard.

Over the past 48 hours, your point has been made time and time again through the actions - or inactions - of Mr. Howard to a degree that would make LeBron James blush. Not only do we now know that Dwight asked for Stan Van Gundy to be fired from the Magic, but once this issue became public knowledge (which should have never happened, but it did, so whatever) Howard was faced with two options:

1) Play a solid game against the New York Knicks in an attempt to show your teammates that you are still dedicated to winning a championship despite your disdain for your coach

2) The exact opposite.

Howard's obvious choice of option two was exemplified by his piss-poor 8-and-8 showing last night in Orlando, and it could have been even worse. He never seemed to care much during the game to the point where fans actually wondered if Tyson Chandler and a weak double-team was "shutting him down".

Even worse, prior to the game Howard decided to make a public spectacle of himself and his coach during an interview with Van Gundy, acting as if both men were "buddy-buddy" only seconds after a reporter asked about SVG's future with the team. The only thing that could have made that moment more memorable would be if Howard once again donned his Superman cape.

So NasHOVA, it appears you were correct all along. Dwight Howard is a complete douchebag, horrible teammate, and completely unnecessary on the Chicago Bulls roster.

Once again, I offer my most sincere apologies for thinking otherwise.

Your friend,

Ugie

I understand your point Ugie, but I wholeheartedly disagree with any thread of this title.

Let him be, he's had a rough awakening lately and all the trials and tribulations that go along with it.

His Radio Hero's have been exposed and now he is desperately trying to latch onto something else to keep him afloat....unfortunately he tied himself to the S.S. Flub Blarksuh and that is one ship you don't want to sail the 7 seas with.

If you know what I mean.

He scored more points than DRose last night. Bottom line is, Howard is one of the top talents in the league. Is he a baby? Immature? Selfish? Sure. So is Kobe. So was Shaq. So was Jordan. Pippen quit on his team. They still won. A lot.

He's still awesome at basketball and I want him on the Bulls, despite the fact he will end up in Brooklyn.

By the way, Magic Johnson demanded his coach be fired, or he would demand a trade. The coach was fired, they hired Riley and they won a championship that year.

You should be banned from posting basketball thoughts after comparing Howard to winners. Playing in the NBA is the only thing they have in common.

I would say comparing Dwight Howard to Magic Johnson is the greater offense.

You can compare aspects of things, without inferring they are the same. You know, like comparing apples and oranges. It's ok to say they are both fruit. Even though other aspects are different. It's cool.

Magic demonstrated the same childish behavior. He was still a great player. Talent wins, not behavior.

The rest of the post doesn't make me believe it was a joke. Those are very bad basketball thoughts.

Um, didn't Magic Johnson win an NBA title in his rookie season? Yeah, he should be compared to Dwight Howard.

Well, it wasn't 100% a joke. Like, he did actually score more points than Derrick Rose.

The point is, there are other more important things, than childish behavior. One of them, is staying healthy. Dwight's done a decent job at that.

Tinkerbell give me the guys you wanted to compare Howard to and I'll win more championships.

When comparing 2 things, not literally every aspect of the two people need to be the same. I'm sure Dwight and Magic didn't go to the same schools. They probably didn't eat the same meals. They also probably have a few other minor differences. But they also have 2 major things in common: they are really good at basketball, and they demanded the coach to be fired.

I would gladly take either of them on my basketball team.

He's not talented enough to overcome being a terminal cancer.

That's not a minor difference though. Magic had already delivered a title. He shouldn't be compared to Dwight Howard.

I would take the proven winner and top 5 player of all time. Completely different mindset.

Ok. We'll come back to this in 10 years when Dwight's career is over. You know, he is still pretty young. Him not being a winner isn't permanent. Remember that Peyton Manning guy? Lots of people said he was not a winner. Couldn't win. Then he did. That was cool. Now he's a winner. Nevermind the other 50 guys that helped. Or Grossman throwing silly interceptions. Peyton is a winner. Period.

Is Derrick Rose a winner? Can he win? Why can he win and Dwight can't? And if your answer is he can, I would then assume he could also win with Dwight Howard, the best big man this game has seen in a couple years.

Of course he is. Would you rather have Howard or Rose if you're starting a team.

How is he a winner? Did I miss him winning a championship? Could have sworn he blew some pretttty big free throws to blow a championship in college too.

And to answer the question, I want both. Both are incredibly awesome at basketball. And in my wet dream, I would have both of them on the Bulls.

He's won at every level and he's a team first guy. Winning is the most important thing to him. Dancing and taking pictures are at thee bottom of the list. Which one would you rather have?
