I grew up playing Boys Club basketball against the youngest Maloof. Beat his team a couple of times. Yeah me. We had many similar friends, but were never friends. Interesting family. I don't really care how this turns out. Seems the family isn't too different than any other owner trying to get the best possible deal for themselves. If they are financially strapped, that could be one of the reasons why they may be wishy washy in terms of what they want to do, or can do. Wouldn't be the first group to do that. There dad owned the Rockets back in the 70's. I doubt they sell. They may dump their casino before selling. |

He owned a coca cola distributorship, but I think he bought the Rockets for $8 Mill and sold for over $100 Mill. Thats a good deal! |

It started with the Coors distributorship. The old man was the Wirtz of the Southwest for a while. Then he died in a hotel room from a heart attack in like 1979. Word had it he was with a "friend". I can't remember. Two oldest sons are pretty astute businessmen. The youngest son is/was more of a jock type. Tried running for state senate and lost, but may have finally gotten elected. The daughter was in a 60 minutes show where she accused the archbishop of molesting her. The venerable Mike Wallace was the man on the scene. The mom was a nice lady. |
