It doesn't make sense that the team with home court can't play game 5 at home. It sort of defeats the whole purpose of home court.

No it doesn't. If Miami had four home games it would defeat the purpose of home court advantage.

Not as bad as the team w/ the best record not getting game 1 & 2 @ home.

You shouldn't have to get to game 6 to play your 3rd home game if you won more games.

Because none of the other series in the playoffs are that way.

i agree if for no other reason than this
it seems silly to play every other series under a different format then just the Finals this way

So? That's not a reason why it should be changed. The same logic could be applied to say the other series should be changed to 2-3-2.

So tell me why you think it should be changed.

ok, then change every other series to 2-3-2

just have it be the same is all i'm saying. what's the reason for having 2 sets of progressions ?

I agree with you. I just don't like Mini Ditka.

i mean wasn't the original intent because it was essentially a east/west thing and so as to therefore minimize travel ?
in this day and age that's pretty ridiculous reason

Yeah I think it started in the 80's when it was essentially LA/Boston every year and the fat lazy sports writers were bitching about the constant travel.

Since the East is pretty weak I'd like to see the East and West teams seeded 1 through 16 and play a tournament rather than the Heat play no one good to get to the Finals every year.

This thread is dumb. The format is fine the way it is. Thunder were likely going to lose tonight regardless of where the game was. Nothing to see here.

Boston and Indiana won more games against Miami that the Thunder did. They were tougher competition.

mini ditka is dumb, but his contention is not, sorry kid
2-3-2 IS dumb, regardless of what happened in this series or not

I don't know if you can say that for sure. Bosh played 1 or 2 games against Boston and maybe 1 game against Indiana. I don't think the Thunder were worse competition from most aspects than those other teams, they just didn't play enough defense.

I still think the non-call on James at the end of Game 2 was a turning point in the series. He clearly fouled him and that game probably at least goes to OT if the ref doesn't swallow the whistle.

There is no reason that the Finals should have a different format than the rest of the playoffs.

2-3-2 is fine if all the series were that way. Every series in the playoffs should be the same.

Not playing defense makes them easier competition moron.

And yes I am sure i can say they were tougher competition. They won more games against Miami. Boston was missing Avery Bradley and Jeff Green too so the injury excuse doesn't apply.

The reason why those other teams couldn't beat Miami was because they couldn't score.

2-3-2 gives too much of an advantage to the team with game 3,4,5

The team that doesnt have homecourt should never have more home games then the other team at any point....which they do after Game 5

It should really be 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

I do agree that the team without home court should always be ahead in home games. Although the talking heads always make it seem like it's an advantage for the home court team because "it's so hard to win 3 in a row."
