The Knicks appear to be one step closer to signing Rasheed Wallace, who could be the latest and yet another veteran player this off-season to join the team just before training camp. A person with direct knowledge of the situation said Wallace took his physical with the Knicks’ training staff Thursday.

Wallace has considered coming out of retirement for the last two years. The decision to get a physical could be a signal that his signing with the Knicks might be imminent. The person close to the situation said Wallace could sign a league minimum deal (around $1.7 million) – which is all the Knicks can offer – as soon as Friday afternoon.

So how many guys on the wrong side of 40 do the Knicks have now....Kidd, Camby and Wallace....anyone I am missing?

I don't believe the Knicks could retroactively use it. IIRC Houston helped them by spreading the money out for over a decade.

I think they might finally be out from under that deal but I do know that the league created the Allan Houston rule for getting out of bad contracts and then the Knicks were so stupid that they didn't use it on Houston and kept paying him.

Ewing, I believe, is currently an assistant coach in Orlando. He was mentioned as a candidate for the Charlotte Bobcats' job, but didn't get the gig.

Jacque Vaughn should never become a head coach before Ewing. I would be pissed if I were him.
