What the hell?? Guess they didn't want to give him that max deal. What does this mean for Lin? Bench/mascot?

Thunder just got much better. Kevin Martin is a damn good player. Wow, the Rockets are gonna be bad. Harden kinda showed what he was in the Finals last spring.

Houston also sends a 2013 second-round pick (via Charlotte) to Thunder.

I disagree. I think Harden is a better player than Kevin Martin.

Harden is a jump shooter. Martin gives you more looks offensively.

Again, I respectfully disagree. I think Martin is more of a jump shooter, Harden is more versatile and better at attacking the basket. He can also play point which is important.

That's 4 million dollars. Great that the GM moved him when he wouldn't sign.

I don't think Harden is a max player you build your team around.

I'll say this though, in my limited viewing, Martin is more inclined to handle the scoring load on a regular basis. He just gets baskets. But Harden is the better player, at the moment. Don't think he's at full potential yet.

I agree, but he is exactly the type of player who gets a max deal because some team is desperate enough to get name players on their roster (see: Carlos Boozer, Joe Johnson, ect.)

This was a terrible move by OKC in the short term. They just hand the Lakers the West. Harden would be no worst than the 2nd best player on nearly every team in the NBA. The guy is a stud. You don't break up a potential dynasty for $4M. You can't have numbers guys making basketball decisions.

uh...Martin may not be Harden, but he will fit just fine with the current OKC core. They'll contend for the western conf. crown.

I don't think so. Harden was instant offense. Martin doesn't have the ability to run an offense and he's 99 years old and injury prone. Besides he'll be gone after the year.

Plus they got the 12th pick in this past draft, and two other 1st round picks. Presti is the NBA's Billy Beane. OKC may not win the championship, but they will be one of the best teams in the league for years to come. And in a small market, you have to be able to keep the people coming to the games.

Yeah the Thunder will be fine. There's quite a few teams right now where Harden wouldn't be the 2nd best player on the team yet.

"HI, we're Boers and Bernstein and we'd like to cordially invite you to NBA HELL!

incidentally, you know what really galvanizes a small market team's fanbase to show up at games? winning a championship or two.

it's easy to look at stats and say harden isn't a max or whatever.... but like, does anyone remember those cold blooded shots he consistently drilled versus the spurs in last season's playoffs? he singlehandedly bailed out KD and put that team on his back... that's a thing, IMO.

kevin martin can seemingly come out of nowhere (aka houston, as it were) and drop ~15pts in ~8-10 minutes.... but then he's prone to disappear for ~20-25 minutes at a time. and i honestly have no idea if he's going to be challenging tyreke evans in the next annual world's largest nutsack competition.... but james harden had the stones to drill some cold clutch shots. that will be missed in OKC more than the tangible points/measurables.

If the third best player on your team is your go to guy in the clutch, then you aren't winning any championships anyways.

bwahaha, okc just made out like bandits. harden is balls. he was good because a good team surrounded him. a great role player. on the rockets, he will be awful. people will wonder how he declined so fast. god damn okc is on a roll. they have a smart front office, thats for sure.
