That trade for Joe Johnson was the dumbest move made this offseason. For that money, they could have signed 2-3 other quality guys to fill out the roster. Now they're stuck with that albatross of a contract, and they can't amnesty it either. Dumb, dumb, dumb....

You can forget about Ron Jeremy, I mean Stan Van Gundy. Now with NBC Sports Network as a college basketball analyst, the Orlando Sentinel's Brian K. Schmitz has tweeted the former Heat & Magic head coach is NOT interested in the Nets' job.

Van Gundy should go for the Nets job. It will make the Dwight Howard to the Nets rumors this off-season even more interesting.

I disagree. I dont think Avery is a good coach, but Im not sure he was a problem with NJ. They just dont have a lot of talent.

You don't think Williams, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace & Brook Lopez are a lot of talent ? I'm not saying I think Avery is the problem either, but clearly it's a pretty solid roster and should be better than .500 especially in the East

No, I don't really think that is a lot of talent. I've never been a fan of Brook Lopez and have constantly criticized him on here. I don't think he's a valuable guy to have. He's so bad defensively and on the boards that it invalidates any good offensive play he contributes. Gerald Wallace is a shell of what he was with the Bobcats. He can still guard bigger guys, but he has lost quite a bit of his athleticism, which means he has lost quite a bit of what made him really good. Deron is pretty good but he's playing terribly this season and I don't blame Avery for that. Atlanta is better without Joe Johnson, I think that says it all.

I think every guy you listed is overrated. Brook Lopez is highly overrated. JJ and Brook Lopez are horrendous defensive players, and it's not like Humphries, Deron, or Wallace are good enough to compensate for them.

I just don't think they are a very good team. I think they are a little better than .500, but their team has a lot of new parts still meshing. I'm not surprised at their record, I think it'll slightly improve, but they aren't a contender any more than a team like Indiana with Granger back or Philly is.
