Read an article last week or something about this possibility but I don't remember it. Anyone have any insight on this move?

Stupid move by GS.

Some team is going to get a good coach out of this deal.

If Kerr doesn't take the NY job, Jackson will.

What makes you think Phil wants him?

He has never really been a Phil guy, has he?

I don't think Phil would hire him necessarily.

Guess I got my answer from Yahoo scribe and part time bulls insider Woj:
Quote:
Jackson clashed constantly with management and struggled to manage his coaching staff during his Warriors tenure. Jackson's disinterest in game preparation and reluctance to practice despite a mostly young and gifted roster played a part in management's reluctance to commit long term to him, league sources said.

Jackson relied on an assistant coach, Darren Erman, to build a top-five defense, but Erman was fired late in the season after an incident that involved the taping of a conversation among the coaching staff.

Jackson had been a popular figure with most key Warriors players
.

Yeah he was a good motivator, but an average coach at best. Plus there's a reason all that shit with his assistants went down, he's an asshole.

You all may be right. The last thing the Knicks need is someone who doesn't prepare well.

I think he meant former Knicks Coach Stu Jackson. He'd take the job again.

The Warriors are moving to San Francisco in about three years. They'll bide their time getting from Point B to Point C, then pull the trigger on Thibs, going from Point C to Point...D.

Some insider perspective seems to lend credence to this way of thinking.
Quote:
Instead this was an off the court decision. Everything about Jackson was under scrutiny, which includes his very public persona as a religious man. It was probably not at the top of the list, but was probably on the list. I don’t know if Jackson’s strong, strong religious beliefs alienated anyone in the building. I’ve heard that the team wasn’t happy that he made it a priority to get back to his LA-based church to preach as often as possible. I’ve heard that he occasionally referred to individuals he didn’t like as “the devil.” And I found it weird to be sitting in a press conference next to a young woman who kept trying to get Jackson’s attention by calling him “pastor.”

But I’ve often wondered how comfortable it was for Jackson and team president Rick Welts to co-exist in the same organization. Welts is openly gay, becoming the first high-ranking executive in professional sports to come out back in 2011. He’s a strong, professional leader who is excellent at his job. Jackson is a fundamental Christian, who embraces what some call “traditional values”. And he wasn’t shy about letting people know his views.

When Jason Collins made his historic pronouncement last year that he was gay, Jackson’s immediate response came out sounding less-than-supportive.

“I will say this,” Jackson said the day of the news. “We live in a country that allows you to be whoever you want to be. As a Christian man, I serve a God that gives you free will to be who you want to be. As a Christian man, I have beliefs of what’s right and what’s wrong. That being said, I know Jason Collins, I know his family, and am certainly praying for them at this time.”

What’s right and what’s wrong? Praying for someone who decided to live an honest life? His words created a very strange vibe, especially for a Bay Area team in the 21st century.

Yep, dumb move.

He could have had the Golden State job, which obviously has a much brighter future ahead of them if someone can get all those pieces to work together.

Mike Brown fired again for the 3rd time in 4 years. I think he is still in line to make like $40M from both the Lakers and Cavs over the next several years.

How do we know he could have had the GS job?

Maybe they did not want him

Detroit isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so why the hell would they hire a guy you typically hire to take you to the finals at this point? Yes they probably got the best coach possible, which is usually the point, but all he's going to do is coach out his contract and then leave because they still won't be going anywhere by the time his first contract is up.

They wanted SVG because they know Kerr is a pipe dream for them.

I would be shocked if Kerr ends up anywhere but New York.
