He's a single father! Picking up the phone was both a gift and a curse. Nuggets forward Wilson Chandler made the daily calls back to Michigan, where his young daughter, Jaya Dior, lived. Was she doing well? He sure wasn't. He missed her. It was wearing on him. "You want to make sure they're good because they're far away and you're traveling a lot, so you don't see them as much," Chandler said. "It's definitely a stress." Last Christmas he tweeted: "Wish I could see my daughter's face when she open her presents. Priceless" Her portrait is tattooed on his neck, but the 3D version is always better. He had to get Jaya with him in Denver. This offseason he did just that. Now? "I can focus on everything," said Chandler, a single dad. "I don't have to call every day and make sure she's all right and be stressing about that." And a stress-free existence off the court may lead to a more comfortable existence on it. Both he and the Nuggets are banking on it. http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_24 ... r-him-this |
