@WojYahooNBA: At No. 4, expect that the Knicks draft pick will be very available in trade talks.

We keep hearing a 2nd round pick for Thibodeau, not a 1st, even though that's what Boston got for Doc Rivers. I read yesterday that Orlando's serious. They're willing to pay him $9 million a year and give him a major say in personnel decisions. If the Magic want Tom, give the Bulls the 5th pick. They'll give back the 22nd.

The T wolves have turned into a premier D league feeder team ..they hit on a star every so often n let him leave.

Towns - decent , a superstar? Hell no ...kinda weak draft.

The Wolves will find a way to screw this up.

Lakers in good position.

Sure are. Esp for a GM. 2 centers, both worthy of being #1 overall and all you have to do is let the other guy do all the work. eg, Oden-Durant.

Also, because it's the hapless T-Wolves picking, there's a good chance they'll make the wrong pick; if it turns out that one of those 2 players weren't worthy of being 1st or 2nd overall.

T-Wolves have had 10 lottery picks in the last 10 seasons...Rubio the only one still on their roster.

I'd contract the Timberwolves not just for their gross incompetence but for their malice in keeping the North Stars from moving to Minneapolis.

What? Towns grabbed 14 rebounds per 40 mins (12 for Okafor), 4.5 blocks a game to 2 per 40 for Okafor . Towns is a shut-down rim-protector on the defensive end. 14/4.5 are insane numbers in the 40 minute, 35 second shot clock college game.

College teams average about 50 shots per game to about 80 for NBA.

Okafor's game's almost entirely on-the-blocks post offense. Okafor's weak on the defensive end.

And Okafor's another Shaq/Dwight Howard situation--50% from the FT line to 81% for Towns.

Towns is what you want, a rim protector who you don't have to take off the floor in the 4th quarter because of hack-a-shaq.

Towns has the ability to handle the ball, pass and can even step outside the arc and shoot the 3 (he shot 46% from 3 prior to Duke). Something Okafor doesn't have.

Wasn't Towns also a pitcher in baseball? Multi-sport athletes (Russell Wilson), good guys to pick in the draft.

With everyone implementing Pop's Spurs spread out and pass, pass, pass until you hit the open guy for a shot offense as a response to Thibs defense, floor spacing's critical. You don't want a player who can only play from one spot on the floor (down on the blocks for Okafor) and who can't jump out and defend outside shooters. Towns seems much more capable of chasing guys around the floor or stepping outside and making guys defend him outside the paint/off the blocks.

Quote:
First of all, as the Kevin Love trade saga showed, Saunders is perfectly willing to misdirect. Even if he says he prefers Okafor, Saunders doesn’t necessarily prefer Okafor.

Plus, he might not even know his choice yet. Neither Towns or Okafor participated in the combine, and the Timberwolves will surely try to bring in both for visits.

I’d take Towns. Okafor would probably fit with Andrew Wiggins and Minnesota’s other young talent, but this team is still a work in progress. Towns’ versatility could only help down the road. The main issue: Towns – because of his ability on both ends of the floor – seems a little better than the offensively minded Okafor.

There is a case for the Timberwolves picking Okafor, though. The Lakers, who pick second and probably prefer Towns, would be happy to make it.

Towns screams Tyrus Thomas to me. Its a massive step up in talent/minutes ..this ain't the calipari dream team in college ..beating up on scrubs for 22 minutes a game n getn easy looks.

Okafor reminds me of diandre Jordan's sister. ..I'm just saying it's a weak draft ..no unibrow or cousins .
