As an IHSA official [button 48], shit's easy money. They were practically begging for Lacrosse referees, implying you never even had to have seen a lacrosse game before, but if you passed the test you got $60 a game.

LAX refs are a joke. The sport is exploding and there are simply not enough refs that know the game let alone played it ever.

I'm more annoyed by the Enrico Pallazos that carry on as if they are higher than the game.

I love the human element. It injects a little random static into the pitcher-v-batter ballet, and you just accept that occasionally you'll get a Denkinger or Jim Joyce. I can't believe there's a more ignominious career umpirery apex than stealing a perfecto from that Tigers kid, who was quickly never heard from again.
