He admitted he considered retiring after last season. Probably not good to sign someone like that to a 6-yr deal worth $126m.

Yeah, did you read that article? TheoandJed are supposed to know that this guy is a basket case. I think there's a cultural element at play. He feels as if he lost face in the World Series last year. Maybe he came to the Cubs to commit Harry Caray.

Frank, I would expect a call from Theo and Jed asking you to explain how the 60-day DL works so that they can plan accordingly.
Pretty sure how that works is that Theo & Jed take a drive down to Dixon and buy a couple of kickass mountain bikes. Then they ride over to your house and tear up your yard while chanting "tour de france sucks" over and over again.

sensitive.

If he retires they are off the hook on the contract.

Isn't that pretty much how they signed Maddon?

I'm only the DL expert. Maybe mofo is the Tampering expert.

Somebody over there might start to take notice.

Well, this is the first bad contract Theo has ever given out in Free Agency.

If there is no insurance type tool for signings like this there should be. Cubs were warned but they look to have gotten screwed.

I believe the industry standard is (or at least was) that they wouldn't insure any contract over four years
