I don't know why, but when I saw this, I swore it would have caused an uproar of some sort...

If it wasn't for the stars, he'd almost look like he's in blackface.

The black face draws attention away from the racist charicature of a native american.

That is an excellent observation, lipidquadcab.

The regular Indians charicature is wrong by itself.

Once you decorate it with the stars and stripes it makes it even more wrong. That is the ultimate slap in the Indians face. (Literally and figuratively.)

Every team in Major League Baseball sported the same navy blue cap with the stars & stripes inside the team logo. The White Sox sported an all-black cap on the 4th of July with the camouflage jerseys vs. Oakland as a tribute to Veterans. You can buy the special jerseys and caps yourself I believe at Grandstand near U.S. Cellular Field & at Triple Threat Sports in Mokena or via their Web site. The Sox hope to actually raise $100 million for Veterans by sporting the camouflage jerseys & with all the teams sporting the special 4th of July caps this weekend. It turns out the camos were part of Mark Buehrle re-signing with the Sox a year ago near the trading deadline, and they got their cue from the San Diego Padres.

I think the Cleveland Indians should sell those hats and give the profits to Native Americans looking to own Casinos.
