Stoneroses, happy with the Burnett and Sabathia moves? Ill be interested to see if their arms fall off. Burnett at least has been more consistently healthy the past four years, but after what the Brewers did to Sabathia last year I can't see how there wont be some hangover this year. I suppose high risk/high reward.

Just pointing out that Sabathia has been the more durable of the two over their careers. Burnett missed a lot of time in the two seasons previous to 2008, as well as early in his career. Sabathia, on the other hand, has been right around 200 IP his whole career, with the highest count coming in 2008. I do think the way Milwaukee used him was excessive, but there's also a chance that the guy can handle the load.

Of course, I am excited about the moves. However, Ned Yost did criminally overwork Sabathia, much like the Vietnamese overwork eight (8) year olds assembling Nike sneakers. Or in the good old days, before the U.A.W., when you could assemble an entire car for about $150.00 in labor costs (adjusted for inflation).

It would be safe to describe my feelings about these moves as cautiously optimistic, if not curiously euphoric. I just hope that the Glorious New York Yankees can, at a minimum, win the American League East. Then, per the (so called) logic of Elmhurst Steve, the season will be "Great Success!"

Crystal Lake Hoffy: Thank you for your excellent question, and your interest in the Glorious 26 time World Champion New York Yankees!

Merry Christmas to you and yours! (I sincerely hope that you are not an atheist)

Yeah, Ned Yost's firing weeks before the end of the season is legendary fail in my books. You have to be bad to have that happen, and I think his handling of Sabathia probably killed the clubhouse. As good as Sabathia is, what he did was probably divide the clubhouse by essentially announcing he had no faith most of his pitching staff.

Burnett's potential is still very high. He never really lived up to it in Florida, obviously.

Stone, I figure it this way. The teams I love in Chicago will never win a championship (Cubs and Hawks). So I root for them during the season, then jump ship for the best two teams in their sports, Red Sox and Dallas! Just kidding.

Just read they have the four highest paid players in baseball now...

...this is the part where I would cry about it being unfair that they spend so much more than everyone else, but we've seen how well it's worked out for them lately...
