The Dodgers are paying Haren's $10M salary. We don't care if you go to Miami or if you go home just go the fuck away.

I had forgotten that Dan Haren existed.

Here is a fun list of players that Dan Haren has been traded for at one point or another:

Mark Mulder
Carlos González
Brett Anderson
Chris Carter
Joe Saunders
Patrick Corbin
Tyler Skaggs

The D'Bags will send LHP Wade Miley to Boston for RHP Rubby De La Rosa, RHP Allen Webster and another minor leaguer.

The Bo Sox miss out on a $150M lefty so they trade for a $4.3M lefty.

The Dodgers flip Heaney to the Angels for Howie Kendrick.

I think that's the Dodgers 17th trade today while Jerry Dipoto acquires yet another left handed pitcher

Tigers, Red Sox Nearing Deal To Swap Porcello, Cespedes.

They won't win in the playoffs with that terrible bullpen.

I wonder if they have some young guys (future starters) tabbed for the pen

Boston better acquire three more aces because Porcello won't be able to hide in that rotation.

Technically not consummated, but essentially done several hours ago.

The Padres have reached an agreement with the Dodgers that would send outfielder Matt Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz to San Diego in exchange for catcher Yasmani Grandal and a pair of pitching prospects, sources told the U-T.

The Padres would also receive roughly $30 million to help offset the cost of the remaining five years and $107 million on Kemp’s eight-year, $160 million contract.

According to sources, the Padres are packaging Grandal with right-hander Joe Wieland and another young arm, likely right-hander Zach Eflin.

The deal, which is pending physicals, is likely to be finalized Thursday before the conclusion of the Winter Meetings in San Diego. Because of the money involved in the trade, it also must be approved by the commissioner’s office.

As a White Sox fan I want that to happen. I want Detroit to have Scherzer.

I feel like Detroit is decently oblivious as to why they lost last year. This shit makes no sense. Cespedes and Simon are maybe a slight upgrade?

Shawn Kemp would have consummated that by now.

Mark Reynolds signs with the Cardinals. Not sure of their thinking behind that.

My first thought was Wigginton 2, but it's only 1 yr/$2M. especially in spot starts and off the bench, almost exclusively against left handers.

For 2M, he only needs to be a spot starter here and there for Adams or Heyward, he won’t defend much and should have favorable matchups. He is scarier pinch-hitting if Adams or Heyward get LOOGY'd than say, Grichuk I would think.

I don't get what the Tigers are doing at all. Their rotation is much, much worse. Greene and Simon are huge downgrades from Scherzer and Porcello, Verlander is in annual downgrade mode and David Price looked pretty bad for them in the 2nd half (at least by David Price standards). Anibal Sanchez only gives you 5 innings too. Overall that rotation is worse than both the Sox and Cleveland by a margin, probably tied with KC.

Their lineup is, I guess, pretty much the same. But age is not on its side, Vmart will not repeat his 2015 and Kinsler is getting old too. JD Martinez and Miggy are great, but Gose, Avila and Iglesias are pretty meh.

And the bullpen is still a dumpster fire.

This is my thought as well. Couple that with word they are out on Scherzer and I think they are poised for a huge slide this year.

I wonder if they would consider moving Verlander to the bullpen/closer position. Might get some of his velocity back in short spurts.

 I don't think so. Verlander is making $28million for the next 5 ( ) years. Your entire bullpen should cost (probably less than) $28million, not just one part of it.

Agree but at some point it is viewed as a sunk cost so you try to make the most of it. I think it's probably is too early to go that route, unless he became Gossage-like and was in there for the 9th, 8th, and part of the 7th.

The Yankees signed 3B Chase Headley to a 4yr/$52M contract.

It's better than the falsely reported $65M deal though I still don't like it. I guess this moves A-Pud to DH or 1B when Teixeira goes on the DL with a hangnail. The Yankees have a ton of god awful money on the books.
