After Theo’s race comments the other day, not a surprising pick. But a great pick at the same time.

Is that right? That seems crazy.

Random Jayson Werth comment.. apparently owns an organic farm (for hunting) down in southern Illinois somewhere.. how does Squirrel know this? Someone tried to sell him a peace of equipment with the pitch he sold Werth two of the, and taught him how to use them. With the prices they were asking I would of needed his National’s contract to afford one.

Mostly that he farms because he wanted land to hunt on and is managed for hunting.

On a side note, our organic fields tend to support more upland birds than the conventional fields so maybe he’s seen same it maybe it’s his wife or maybe he got in to some sort of “clean” eating thing and is trying to become the amaranth and quinoa farmer of central Illinois, didn’t get that far into the thought process on the floor of the lacrosse event center.

Timing wise, they needed to take a high school pick because if he pans out you don't want to waste 2022 and 2023 rebuilding years on his service time. Aim for 2024. Great pick.

I hope he does as well as the last Carmel guy the Cubs picked.

Other than baseball, I hope he has a successful life.

Of course they drafted him because he's a black Chicagoan. Zero doubt, come on let's not be fools. This is the world people want though, I thought? This is the world that we were told if wasn't provided would mean the cities get burned down.

WTF, he projected to be a top 20 pick.

Best SS prospect in the country.

What's not to like?

Bob Nightengale is a racist. And I'm dead serious. He thinks the Cubs picked this kid because he's local and black.

A major sportswriter just called Ed Howard a token.

On a lighter note, The Sox made a safe pick, contrary to what I've been hearing. He's a Sale clone with an ass and a slightly higher arm slot. Same 3 pitches too.

They already have this movie. So yeah, why not? Just rerun it.

I don't think he got the response to the tweet he wanted.

This kid went right in the range he was supposed to go.

This kid Howard will be up on the big team in 2 years, that's my prediction.

You couldn't be more wrong. Ranked by just about everybody as the best SS in the country. Passan said he got a text from a MLB scout who said it was the best pick of the draft. Best player on the board. Find something else to get triggered about.

No, they aren't in a hurry and they certainly won't bring up up before the CBA is negotiated. He is going to get no playing time this season, unless they send him to AFL. He comes up at the end of 2023 or more likely opening day 2024.

Wrong Jackie. This Jackie was a lawyer who went to St. Ignatius with Wilbon.

Cub fans are at their absolute best when overprojecting long range prospects

I think they are at their best when they blame a fan while a groundball goes between a shortstop's legs
OR, when they plexiglas a ball on top of a scoreboard. Not when they overproject a midget at 2B...oops, wrong team.

Cub fans are always at our absolute best.

But I'm sure, if you keep applying, you may qualify one day.

Hey, i was the worst when it came to Corey Patterson. I didn't realize what an ignorant ass he was. He was going to keep swinging at shoulder high fastball because dammit that's what he did in high school and the low minors and fuckyall if you thought he would consider changing.

This kid could end up being the second incarnation of Scot Thompson, or Josh Vitters, or the guy Brickhouse told us kids would certainly be a star, Matt Alexander.

If he can hit a solid 7th against both lefties and righties and play plus SS for six years, itll be an above average #1 pick for the Cubs.

Is Matt Alexander the only player in MLB history to have more stolen bases in a season than plate appearances?

I'll bet he is.

EDIT - I forgot about Herb Washington. The A's were quite a team.
