Peavy's decline in the AL is 100% due to injuries. He left SD injured and was never the same pitcher. Beuhrle is not significantly better in the NL, granted it's a small sample size. Clifford had great seasons in both Cleveland and Philadelphia. I'm not accepting him as an example. CC, yes, I agree with you there. Just saying, look at some of the #5 AL starters. You honestly think those would be #3 in the NL? By your logic:

Buchholz > Wainwright
Floyd > Hamels
Milone > Bumgarner

Oh wait, the AL pitchers listed on their #3 starters, not #5. Just think about that for a second.

No.

1. Jeter
2. A-Rod
3.

edit: I just looked, Chipper is short in the SB category. Abreu is short in the "active player" category. :wink: :oops:

That'd be a pretty shitty trivia question.

Well, those are the starting pitchers Toronto is scheduled to throw at Anaheim this weekend. It might be a reliever, too. You just never know...

Junior Seau was active yesterday, doesn't make him active today.

Unfortunately, John Damon got...I'm not kidding with this...cramps and was replaced by Shelley Duncan & Aaron Cunningham in left field in the Indians' 6-3 win over the White Sox last night. It was Damon's first game with Cleveland since signing a 1-year contract about a week to 10 days ago.

And technically by tomorrow when Abreu signs with the Dodgers the question will have to be changed to "4 active players".
I had to hurry up and get that one out there.

Once Abreu signs I'll ask it again, this time giving away a new dream house* to the winner.

*Dr. Ken will be out of town next week. We'll use one of his.

I remember when Damon's douchey wife cited the reason he wouldn't sign on the Southside as it "wasn't cosmopolitan enough"... he then went on to play for noted Cosmopolitan metro areas of Detroit and Tampa.. and now Cleveland? :lol:

What about Tampa/St. Petersburg? That's where Johnny Damon played last season.

Yes, the AL dominates interleague. I'm still not buying your "#5 in the AL = #3 in the NL" argument, assuming that's what you meant. Don't forget that San Diego and Pittsburgh are doormats, regardless of what league they're in (a combined 168-258 overall interleague record). And you really think Danks would be an ace in the NL? :lol: :lol:

John "Ace" Danks went 7 IP last night, giving up 9 hits, 6 ER, 1 BB, and 1 K. ACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2012 Opening Day Payrolls

AL = $105 million average
NL = $92 million average

However, some of that disparity is due to AL teams having to pay for a DH. The average DH makes about $9 million, and the average MLB player makes about $3 million. So if you factor that out, the average AL payroll would be about $7 million higher than the NL, or about a 7% higher quality of players.
