Did I make up the multiple posts I've read on here that state that the most important thing to happen this year is to lose and get a high draft pick?

I dont think anyone went into the season rooting for them to lose so they could get a high draft pick.

Probably. But, let's assume you didn't.

Winning anything this year isn't likely unless they rip off a .900 streak for the next 7 weeks. So, I'm fine with them losing games to possibly get a difference making draft selection.

But, it is doubtful that that selection would be productive in 2014 unless you are getting a college stud. So, you seem to have changed the discussion here from what it wasn't to something you feel like arguing.

There certainly is a big contingent of Cubs fans here that think the team should be competing for the playoffs in 2014, and a WS in 2015. To do that in such a time frame, they are definitely going to have to pump out some prospects, or pump the payroll back up.

Well, we are talking about rebuilding the farm system, so they would simply need to be productive in 2014, not necessarily at the big league level.

I'm not changing the discussion. 2015 is the target. That means that the farm system should at least be rebuilt by 2014.

The farm system just brought up one future HOFer, what more do you want? 8)

Well, you are changing the discussion. Frank was criticizing the Padres farm system because they had to go to Kip Wells 2 years after Jed Hoyer took over.

Am I misunderstanding that?

Or, is Frank saying that the Padres farm system is bad because Kip Wells is pitching now and he doesn't see many prospects that will help the Padres in 2013?

Would you playeth at words with me, sir?

I'll check back next year on the quality of the Padres farm system and current prospects and I will laugh at the likes of you and Frank - a good hearty laugh that annoys the neighbors.

I learned long ago to never try and explain what Frank is trying to say.

Actually, the Padres farm is pretty good after raping the Red for Latos.

They traded for Yonder Alonzo when Rizzo was already in the system. I guess ones teams trash is another teams treasure.

Totally racist. You don't see me sporting the Pierzinski, Konerko or Podsednik.

I'm not so sure about that, guys. If it doesn't work out with the Blue Jays, the Padres might take out a flyer on Jamie Moyer. You just never know...
