I can't see the picture of Alvarez but Cosarts arm is going to be "late" because of his glove tuck. He tucks the glove and pulls it down at foot strike to get a big shoulder turn and fire his arm thru. That delivery doesn't work if his arm is "on time.' It's a violent delivery at the top.

weird. try this one

Almost except for that leg swing. I'm with Schilling on that one. I don't understand this fad either. His momentum is taking him towards first base when it should be taking him towards the target. It leads to command problems and possible injury when the arm has to make up for the loss of momentum.

Hmm. That's interesting... Curt.

Alvarez looks exactly like Cosart but his arm action isn't nearly as violent. I looked at some Jose Fernandez video and he did the glove tuck and pull too. That must be what the Marlins organization teaches. It doesn't bode well for Mr Cosart's long term health.

You have to ask him if Kiley McDaniel is really a dude. I have my doubts.

jose fernandez is awesome.... i hope to god he comes back at least 85% of what he was because he's good for the game.

my favorite jose fernandez thing was approaching his debut against the mets he was asked in an interview if he's afraid of facing david wright and he responded "i was afraid when i was in the raft [defecting from cuba] and they were shooting at me. i was afraid when my grandmother fell in the ocean and i thought i would never see her again, and i was afraid when i was in jail. what's david wright going to do to me?"

i was just like "this motherfucker is on all of my teams"

TO KEEP IT ON TOPIC, shit, kolten wong is on many of my teams. are you guys high up on the wonger or did i waste some pretty high draft picks and keepers on the sears of 2nd basemen?

Wong has elite contact, eye skills and plays a slick 2B (thus, making it hard for Magic Mike to take him out of the lineup. SSS, he'll be fine and far better than most MLB 2B.

I think it was Mabry who described his tools thusly to rile him up. He did hit the fastball from Marquis a mile, but I don't know why any RHP throws him a fastball ever, if they don't have to.

Didn't Starlin get into some shit in his Camaro? My takeaway is: don't ever drive a Camaro in the DR

Hope he gets better. Streams are out there; i had some malware isssue with strikeout.co, so i just went ahead and got the MLB.tv app for a month for the phone. it's like $25/month if you don't want to commit to the $120/year price.

What's the deal with Molina?

Matheny batting him 7th on a regular basis...dude looks like he needs to spend a few days doing serious work at the Old Country Buffet...too early to point at the stats (but he does have the lowest BA and highest SO total)...

His numbers after the fluke thumb injury last July are not good.

110 plate appearances over the 27 games following his return to the lineup, Molina amassed just five extra base hits, and no HRs. He lost a lot o weight in the offseason, but his timing even on singles looks off.

It also looks like pitchers are attacking him on hard inside and breaking stuff more and more, and if you've ever tried to swing through a thumb injury, you know how gun shy one can get on those types of pitches.

I honestly don't know if Offensive Yadi is going to come back too much, he's still too valuable to the staff and controlling the running game to take out of the lineup. And it's well documented Tony Cruz sucks. We may be seeing early-career "Can't-hit Yadi"... not to get all DOOM but he is 33, usually when catchers fall off a cliff.

I'm not sure he should bat anywhere else with this lineup... which has featured Jay hitting 8th.

Too early to tell. Part of me wants him to have a career year and break the bank... but I don't know if that increases or decreases his likelihood of re-upping. He would probably take more than Holliday... but our Waino-Molina-Holliday core is aging, and with no OT like hitting star on the horizon, signing a (next year to be) 26 year old to a mega contract isn't the worst idea given today's market and run environment.

Not yet. He actually looks pretty good first time through. Even went to a side-piece

El Gallo with 4Ks through 3, but Bruce put one over the wall

raisel is making me laugh with the shit he's throwing you guys on the first pitch. then if he misses he's missing in places you can't hit him, and when he misses he usually doesn't miss by much. this dude is dirty.

edit: and now he's rattled after he got pinched on what should have been an easy third out. jay bailed him out tho on a 3-0 green light! dude.... seriously. ha.

edit #2: yeap, he stayed rattled consistently missing on the first pitch and then pinching himself missing the corners so when he had to come back over the plate you guys were waiting for him. 3 runs ensue. go figure once heyward did that thing where he got caught in between 2nd and 3rd to make sure the run scores (smart with martinez in a groove) and the bases were clear with 2 outs he summarily dispatched holliday.

so yeah, shit, the #s wont look good but what i saw today is that raisel iglesias is who i thought he was... a kid with dirty stuff who needs to get some experience/composure out there. he's gonna have some fun games this year when he goes against dumber teams.
