Roberts went all out to win this game and now has his best arms (Maeda/Morrow/Jansen) limping into the final 2 games.

ya they thought Kershaw game was going to be an easy win.

Like Jake said last year "I didnt know how hard it was going to be to win the WS". Truth.

Jansen is awesome. Making him throw strikes is way easier said than done.

That was the perfect storm of weirdness. Lubed juiced balls, tiny park, worn out relievers and 2 teams with several guys who are 100% launch mode.

They'll probably over compensate now and next year no one will hit 40 homers.

Slippery balls.

Or maybe they have just seen him enough and have a good game plan. My guess is he's dominant again next year.

I believe everything he's been pretty solid in the first inning of his appearances.

Yup. These managers have bullpen choices that look a lot like what Maddon was dealing with at the end. No one is reliable right now. Imagine if Roberts doesn't pitch Morrow.....they are screaming LA about needing that game.

I dont think so. I mean, crazed idiot fans maybe. The guy was a starter all his life. First year in the pen and he's pitching 5 times in 7 days? Dumb.

Right, and people were upset when Wade Davis wasn't available after pitching two innings, something he never did.

Not the same thing.

Davis had 2 days of rest. He absolutely could have and should have gone. Maddon was going to use him for the save that night anyway, so he was good for an inning. Maddon just waited for a situation that never came.

Yeah, if Roberts sticks to his plan not to pitch Morrow last night, Morrow's available Game 6. Now Morrow's probably not available until Game 7; and who knows if Morrow has anything in the tank by then even. Maeda pitched and got hit last night. Morrow pitched and got rocked last night. Jansen pitched and got hit last night. Don't think Maeda or Morrow should've been in the game last night. Maeda threw 40+ pitches 2 nights prior.

Once the Dodgers tied it up in the top of the 9th, Roberts had no choice but to try to steal a win with Jansen in the 9th/10th.

And pitching Kershaw away from Dodger stadium, you're not getting maximum Kershaw. I'd have pitched Darvish in Games 1/5, Kershaw in Games 2/6. Hill + Maeda + bullpen in Games 3/7 and still run Wood out there for Game 4 (plus Wood's available for Game 7, which could be the sneaky difference in that game, should this get to Game 7).
Apparently these Japanese starters do better when there's less stress/chaos. Game 1 would've been less stressful, more by-the-book, orderly game than feeling pressured to get a win on the road coming off a loss.

You keep bringing up Kershaw on the road. That is stupid. If Roberts doesnt pitch him game 1 and 5 then he is getting shit for that and justifiably so. You pitch your best guy in those spots no matter the location

So managers should manage by popular opinion on sports talk radio and not what gives their team the best chance to win a championship.

Not saying he won't dominate again next season. Most likely he will, but wouldn't be against him sucking since Roberts is a dickhead. Just saying he is very hittable if you make him throw strikes. He is a one pitch pitcher. You make him throw it for a strike and go to work on it. The Cubs let him get by with throwing every fastball a foot over their heads.

Not even close to what I said.

I am sure you could manage the Dodgers better than Roberts

It's not just on the road for Kershaw. He has road parks where he pitches well--Minute Maid ain't one of em.

in a world series, you need to win 4 out of 7 games. Kershaw clearly prefers pitching in Dodger Stadium (2.00 career ERA, tOPS against of 92 etc) and dislikes pitching in Minute Maid (career 3.20+ ERA, tOPS against around 130 in Minute Maid). Why not maximize the odds Kershaw's going to win both of his starts? Win 4 games out of 7, no style points for how/when/where you win em.

1/1 easily overlooked play in G5 still annoys me. 1 out, 8th inning, Pederson lifts high fly to left. It is not launched and Minute Maid has

You're supposed to have a worthless extra ball on you to throw back in these situations:
