Of course not. The record is 73 home runs.

If he gets to 62, many people will celebrate. It's already been discussed.

Nope. EVERYBODY agrees 73 is the record and there will be nothing to celebrate. Haven't you read this thread?

I think it's kinda weird to celebrate getting within 11 of the record, but it is what it is.

No one is disagreeing that 73 is technically the record.

No need for technically. It's the record.

5 guys have hit 60, so getting to 60 is pretty cool.

Agreed, Sosa is the GOAT at hitting 60, but Stanton is very good, too

If he hadn't juiced, he would have topped out at 30.

It's difficult to explain to you how awful your position is on this topic... or any baseball topic... or any sports topic... or any general topic...

I know. It's a pretty terrible opinion to believe the guy who hit the most home runs in a season actually hit the most home runs in a season. I'm sure I have worse takes though.

When I first met you, I thought to myself "Yeah, this guy looks dumb enough to believe the stupid shit he says."

73 is the record, as is 762. Too bad baseball fucked with ARod, preventing him from breaking it again.

those are 'officially' the records but no right minded baseball writers, fans, and players - other than the ones who juiced - think those records are legit. The End.

 It isn't like the movies where you can just reboot shit and act like things didn't happen. I saw Bonds hit 73, it was real. Maybe in the future there will be some super mega HGH and someone will hit 80 and we'll all wring our hands and say 73 is the real record.

We saw him cheat his way to 73.

The only person here who saw Lance win 7 tours is Mofo.

Did MLB strip Bonds of 73 home runs? Let me know when they do.

On M&H this morning, John Heyman said that if Stanton hits 62 he should celebrate because the "Sosas, McGwires, and Bonds didn't do things legitimately."

Quote:
I used to be an asterisker. This isn’t a real word, and that’s fitting, actually, because those who believe Roger Maris is the true single-season home run champion consume their sports in an alternate reality. Their intentions are generally noble, their motivations typically moral, but when emotion overwhelms fact, when the pursuit of sporting purity wends the explorer into logical knots, there is simply no rational case to be made.

Quote:
He hit his 50th on Aug. 11, more than two weeks ahead of Stanton – and then he went really crazy. Over his next 45 games, Bonds stepped to the plate 192 times. In 62 of those, he walked, which left him only 128 official at-bats. Bonds homered 23 times, one every 8.3 times up, which is amazing, considering he walked more than 30 percent of the time. Bonds’ line up to and including his 50th: .307/.485/.819. After it: .383/.589/.984. I’m hopeful nobody accuses me of peddling obscenity for sharing that, because it is untoward.

Stanton is not that player, which is fine, because really the only person with an argument for being Bonds’ peer is Babe Ruth.

I did see them all and each one since, and regardless of the clear cheating that took place and likely STILL takes place in that sport, no motherfucker has ever ridden a bike over those mountains like that guy did, and it was a pleasure to watch. What do i care whether he got nightly blood transfusions? My only connection to the sport is being entertained. It isnt nearly as entertaining these days now that it has "cleaned up".

Do i like cheating in sports? No, but what the fuck can i do about it? Its to tiring trying to figure out who is legit and who isnt. Bonds hit 73, thats the record. Big fucking deal.
