Entering Monday, there had been 5,562 strikeouts in the majors this season and 5,174 hits. That's 388 more strikeouts than hits. There's never been a full month in MLB history with more strikeouts than hits across the league.

So it seems Bauer was mysteriously able to improve his SPIN RATE! by 200-300 in the first inning of his last start. When asked about it after the game he said “no comment”. Looks like the nut job is on to something here.

The Mets traded Matt Harvey to the Reds for Devon Mesoraco.

A couple of huge disappointments traded for each other. I like the deal better for the Reds because Harvey has a chance to throw it better then the Reds can get something for him at the deadline. Mesoraco is toast.
