That is insane.

JP, for once our Baseball thoughts are aligning. Very stupid terms. If he had any real competition in this market, or the Dodgers didn't decide they're going to be this thing they've created recently, he'd be C.J. Wilson money.

If it wasn't already official, it is now. The LAD have now replaced the Yankees atop baseball's payroll mountain.

I guess Greinke's social anxiety disorder can be overcome at 24M per annum.

He has a legitimate mental disorder. I'm not sure how you can even get Lloyd's of London to insure that contract. He's an outstanding pitcher, but he's not in my top five.

The Dodgers payroll is at $225M for next season. I hope they fall flat on their face.

The Dodgers have signed Korean left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu, tweets Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.

Ryu, represented by Scott Boras, was posted by the Hanwha Eagles last month and the Dodgers won his negotiating rights with a bid worth a bit more than $25.7MM. The 25-year-old has been one of the Korea Baseball Organization's most dominant pitchers over the last several years, helping the country to Olympic gold in 2008 and a second place finish in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Ryu went 9-9 with a 2.66 ERA last season for last place Hanwha with 210 strikeouts in 182 2/3 innings. He has a 2.80 ERA over his seven-year career in Korea.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays have traded James Shields and Wade Davis to the Royals.

Yikes. What did they have to give up for those two? Wil Myers and Billy Butler?

Now they are saying it's Myers and a series of prospects. What the hell is a series of propsects? I don't think Kyle Zimmer can be traded even as a PTBNL. Bubba Starling? Jake Odorizzi? They say it's not official and more players can be added to the deal. Ballsy move by both teams.

Kansas City has agreed to acquire RHP James Shields, RHP Wade Davis and a player to be named or cash from Tampa Bay in exchange for OF Wil Myers, RHP Jake Odorizzi, LHP Mike Montgomery and 3B Patrick Leonard.

Huh. Not as bad as I thought. Myers is a monster, Odorizzi is a solid middle of the rotation starter, Montgomery was a top prospect but has been hampered by injury and ineffectiveness and Leonard is a 19 yr old in rookie ball. Sheilds is signed thru 2013 with a $12M team option for 2014. Davis is under team control until 2016.

The Wade Davis aspect is weird. He's really not that good. Tampa pretty much saw him as a strictly a bullpen arm after being a ho-hum starter.

I guess they fell if he can replicated his stats from 2010 and 11, he'll fit in nicely in the back end of their rotation which all of the sudden doesn't suck.

Shields-Guthrie-Santana-Davis? Cy Chen? Then they also have a couple guys coming off TJS whose names are escaping me.

A three-team deal would send Shin-Soo Choo and Jason Donald to the Reds, Didi Gregorius to the Diamondbacks, and Drew Stubbs plus an Arizona pitcher going to the Indians. Patrick Corbin or Trevor Bauer will likely be the Arizona pitcher going to Cleveland

The D'Bags and Indians have been hot to make a trade all off season and they finally found a third team to get it done. A bit of a risky move by the Reds getting Choo to play center. It will be a hell of a trade for the Indians if they get Bauer.

The Diamondbacks acquired SS Didi Gregorius, LHP Tony Sipp, and 1B Lars Anderson from the Indians in exchange for RHP Trevor Bauer, RHP Matt Albers and RHP Bryan Shaw. The Reds are receiving OF Shin-Soo Choo and INF Jason Donald in the swap. The Indians also get OF Drew Stubbs from the Reds

The trade got a little bigger and looks real good for the Indians. Getting Bauer is a steal. The Reds got better if Choo can handle center and can stay healthy. I don't like it for the D'Bags. Gregorious could be a good everyday SS but they didn't get nearly enough in return for Bauer

The Indians are looking like a last place team for next year and are still looking to move Cabrera

Can somebody explain what exactly the Red Sox are doing? They get a gift from the Dodgers by taking all of those huge contracts. Then they want to sign Old Man Dempster to a multi-year contract. I'm confused. I figured they would wait until Garza got healthy and make a deal for him. Or some pitcher similar to Garza.

Don't forget to mention Victorino. Weird hot stove season for the BoSox

It's a good thing the Red Sox moved all that payroll (and Adrian Gonzalez) so they could sign 31 yr old Mike Napoli, 32 yr old Shane Victorino and 35 yr old Ryan Dempster to 3 yr deals. They're a much better team now.

It looks like the Angels are, at the very least, driving up the price for Hamilton.

2 platoon players and an aging veteran. Perfect.

The funniest part is the fans still blame Theo and Francona for all of their problems.

They signed him. 5 years/125M.

Yikes.

Especially not in Southern California. This is a guy who had 2 "lapses" in Texas.

But that lineup is a monster.

Lots of bad money being spent in So Cal this year.

Hamilton, Pujols, Trout....

That lineup is going to mash.

Hopefully they gave him a no trade. That actually is better than I thought figured it would be 3/35 because the Red Sox just like to watch money burn.
