I have heard numerous voters say that don't trust anybody from that era. Also, there are people that people that believe just because he got 3000 hits, he doesn't necessarily belong in. Never won a MVP, did it on longevity only, etc. I don't believe it, just another way for these idiots to try and justify something.

If that's the case, let's take Paul Molitor out of the Hall of Fame.

If they just threw out the blank "protest" ballots as irrelevant to the process, someone would get 75% every year. Repeated blank ballots would result in your removal from the BBWAA.

Frank Thomas, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine & Jeff Kent headline the first-timers on next year's Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot.

I think Maddux & Glavine get in for sure. Those 2 pitchers haven't been linked to PEDs. Thomas appeared to do it naturally, too, but he might not get in on the first ballot.

Voters really take the "first ballot hall of famer" title pretty seriously. So, I only see Maddux getting in on the first ballot next year. The rest will get in the year after.

I put Kent's chances at less than 50% to EVER get in. He has the PED stank and was a major dickbag to writers, teammates and basically, everyone.

Maddux is probably. Frank, no. Sorry Frank. If they still can't even get decent support for Edgar Martinez, there is no way a guy who didn't play defense is ever a first-ballot.

Maddux definitely is. Thomas is definitely a hall of famer, but I think voters won't see him as being dominant enough or did it long enough to be given the illustrious "first ballot hall of famer" status.

Frank Thomas' last 8 years in the league were not really HOF material. He had a couple of good years, but nothing tremendous. The rest of those years were just throw away years.

and his first 8 were equaled by guys like Williams and Ruth only. Career .300, 500 plus HR, OPS of .974. Without looking Id say those numbers were better than Mantles.

So you are saying Frank Thomas is better than Mickey Mantle?

I would just like to re-iterate, I do think Thomas is a HOFer. I just don't think he will be voted in on the first ballot.
