Years ago, the Twins had a "cant-miss" 1B/LF prospect named David McCarty. 3rd pick in the draft, tore up the minor leagues and got fast-tracked to Minneapolis.

Couldn't do shit. Started the rest of his first year up, went .214/.257/.286. He bounced around and put together a decade in MLB mostly as a backup and AAA insurance policy, ended up with .242/.305/.371 and never had 300 PA in a season after his rookie year.

He was the prototype for Josh Vitters.

What an absolute shitshow he has become. I remember a few years back when he was the #1 prospect in all of baseball and his name was being used in the same sentences as Mike Trout. Through 50 PA's BA .085 SLG .128 1 R 0 RBIs 46% K's For reference, that is actually worse than Bartolo Colon with the Mets last year. And Bartolo even got a HR and 2 RBI's
