Remember when there used to be a real rivalry between the leagues? Or at least among the fans. I remember NL-AL arguments getting pretty heated. When did that stop--like in the 90s? |

I have heard Hawk talk about how the players took it seriously in the 50s and 60s. Each League really wanted to win this game. |

The players benefit from that money. They've all agreed to cooperate in an all star game because it's a show and the players want to help. Bigger ratings means more money for the next FOX contract. Which means more money for the players. Plus exposure for the players helps their personal brand. So if people see them on this big stage it helps them. So they smile and do the interview in a game that doesn't matter. |
