They are celebrating Aaron today in ATL and ESPN has him in the booth maybe for the whole game. DVR it. Great stuff and a Great American. Hammerin' Hank! He just spoke about one season where he had 44 HRS and 37 K's. Unreal. |

He actually didn't have any seasons with fewer strikeouts than homers...but he was close in 1969 with 44 HR and 47 K. |

Something kept the guy grounded/sane for all this time. Would love to meet his wife. Off the top of my head I would put his ability to walk away from a high profile profession on par with Truman. They didn't seem to need the limelight and quit when the job was over. I can't think of a candy bar or coffee maker named after the guy. He was simply consistently great and walked as far as I knew walked away. |
