https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.si.com ... tate-broke It would be a nice gesture to throw the widow and daughter some money( 300k) but no way in hell should they pay the full contract to a dead man's family. |

Yep, it was his fault that he died. No one else was involved. |

The money's guaranteed. If he was alive but paralyzed, he'd get paid...or there'd be some settlement written into the contract. Pay the kid. |

I can't believe death hasnt ever been considered for situations like this. You'd think there would be a rule in place. |

I'm sure the teams have insurance policies on players in case they die. It's not like it's never happened before. His agent should have things in place too. |

There have to be outs for high risk activities and suicide. Your life insurance isn't always guaranteed either if you look. |

It’s not even that rather the greedy fucking owners are trying to get the lawyers to start his daughters service time once she accepts the money . |

I can see them being permitted to pay each year (as though he were still alive) and not a lump sum, but they probably owe him one way or another. |

After reading that I've done a 180, the Royals could have paid 4 Mill and insurance covered the rest. Pay the dead man the 4 Mill and move on. Unless he was drunk |

I would be surprised if they truly owe him everything. Either they had an insurance policy on it themselves or there is some requirement that you actually show up to work in order to get it.

Why didn't the family have life insurance separate from the team? Or am I not understanding something. |
