Over the course of 20 minutes Rose pimps his book ("a NYT bestseller!"); recounts clocking DiMaggio's yooge cawk in Vietnam; the athletic prowess of Rose's father in the 40's and 50's; how Whitey Ford gave him the name Charlie Hustle; spiking the baseball after making the last out in a win cuz he saw NFL players doing it; brawling with Buddy Harrelson; Ray Fosse costing him 3 missed games after Fosse blocked the plate in the ASG; his Grandma's baseball field; Marge Schott's humanitarianism (she once wished Rose happy birthday); HoF prospects of Dave Parker, T John, Jim Kaat...

and then, maybe cuz it's a sports gambling podcast...

Cousin Sal in a deferential manner broaches the topic of Rose betting on games. Sal couches it in terms of Rose being a numbers guy and gambling on games a natural extension of Charlie Hustle's fascination with baseball and stats. Rose rambles nonsensically about Sparky Anderson and being a player-manager a bit, not really addressing the question. Cousin Sal tries again by saying Giamatti was wrong b/c baseball gives so many people 2nd chances (e.g, Steve Howe)..Rose realizes Sal really wants to talk about this gambling thing [ it is a sports gambling podcast ] and comes back with:

Rose: "What's today's date? July 2019? Why are we wasting time talking about something that happened in 1989...old news." [ this is after 20 minutes of stories mostly from the 40's, 50's and 60's ]

Rose: "Next question."

Rose: "And that'll be your last question"

Cousin Sal: "Last question? Okaaay..."

Cousin Sal: "Can you see us hanging out in the future?"
