Pretty cool:

Dale Murphy's son draws a comic about his dad's Hall of Fame chances.

If Baines got in, then Murphy should be in too.

One of Murphy's most similar players statistically has been Santo and with Santo getting in it should have opened the door for Dale. This sucks.

Neither should be, why compound a mistake

Harold Baines is the worst player the HOF ever let in.

There’s no question Dale Murphy should be in the HOF.

He was the best player in the NL for half of a decade.

2 MVPs and 5 Gold Gloves. Come on.

Well, if Baines and Murphy get in, then Konerko gets in. If this is what we're doing.

Because Konerko played in the steroid era and wasn't on steroids. So that should be considered.

You misspelled the pet that was Ron Santo.

Dave Parker and his more meaningful titles disagree with you.

And fwiw, I don't think Baines belongs in either.

Santo was among the best at his position in the era he played. If Baines is a HOFamer, so are the likes of Dwight Evans and Dave Parker.

Fun facts: Baines is better in BA, OBP, OPS, and he has more hits and RBI than Andre Dawson.

I would agree on Parker.

Evans was a fine player on both offense and defense, and you can certainly make a strong argument for him on the numbers vis-a-vis Harold Baines. But I would argue that the Hall of Fame is about more than just what's on a paper. There are those who think Jim Rice doesn't belong in the HOF. I would argue that he belongs more than Baines, Evans, or Parker. Certainly more than Andre Dawson.

And I'm not making a case for Baines being in. When I heard that he had been inducted I thought it had to be an Illinois or Maryland or maybe some obscure African-American Baseball HOF. But the fact is, that just like Jim Rice, in his prime, Harold Baines was the centerpiece of his teams. He was the guy pitchers worried about getting out.

When a pitcher of his era was game-planning for the Red Sox and going through that lineup, he wasn't thinking about how he was going to handle Dewey Evans. Evans was never the best player on his team.

So was Robin Ventura. Shall we induct him?

Neither Santo or Baines should be in the HoF. Santo's years of lobbying and crying about it made it worse.
