I could see him as commish some day. I’m sure that’s not an original thought but he could prob get 4-5 great years out of the MLB before completely crippling it. |

Manfred should see the writing on the wall. |

Manfred has such bad PR I'm sure they can't wait to get Theo in there. But If I'm Theo, this seems like a many steps down. It's like being Vice President of the US. I thought he had higher aspirations like running for political office. |

I don’t think Theo actually becomes commish but who knows. I would, however, love to be privy to Jed and Theo’s private conversations for as long as Theo is in this role |

Reading between the lines it sounds like Theo will be the person to craft some kind of compromise around the shift and baseball composition. Hell, just put Theo in charge of the baseball itself. Form a special committee between the owners, the manufacturer, and MLBPA current and former pitchers and hitters. Give them two years to come up with a solution to test out in AAA in 2023. |

This has to be a move to position himself into joining a potential ownership group. Good for him. |

The owners would never want somebody like Theo as Commissioner. He wouldn't work in their best interests. So that will never happen. |

He's too young to be serving in a Joe Torre/Tony La Russa emeritus role. I would have to assume that this is just a temporary stop over and not an end in itself. |

It's a consulting gig where he can work from his chicago home. He probably begged them for something so that he has an excuse to get out of the house. He'll get some nice office in Wrigleyville decked out with fun stuff like a bar and then use it as a stabbin cabin. "Honey, I've got to go to the office and deeply ponder how to disincentivize the three true outcome approach. My just out of college female intern will be there to answer phones if you need to reach me." |
