Take a trip down the I&M canal? or enjoy the historical gaylord building? Get stuck on the bridge in traffic on IL-7? too many great choices in Lockport

Lockport actually got rid of their baseball coach this past summer.

Apparently there's a guy named Richaun Holmes who's been the NBA for like 6 years and he went to Lockport.

Putting up decent numbers, too.

Stuck on it for 10 minutes you can feel it swaying. Feel sorry for people who use it to get to work during rush hour. Backs up a mile both east and west. Seeing deer and wild turkeys on it was fun.

I didn't understand a single fucking word of this thread.

And it's in the MLB section? I am out of the loop.

I spent a lot of time the summer of my junior year of college on prairie restoration with the Will County Forest Preserve District under the Route 7 bridge. Long pants, chaps, hardhat, chainsaw all in 90 degree weather seemingly ever day. Half the time I was hungover. That was also when Asian Tiger mosquitoes were a thing so we all lathered up in Off every day. Fucking brutal! I decided not to go into conservation after that internship.

I'll never forget the recent hire I worked with who had a degree in conservation from Purdue and he told us he was making 22.5K per year. I thought WTF? This was the late 90s. He was living in a shitty little apartment in Joliet with his pregnant wife. These people would move halfway across the country for a small raise. After a day or so of listening to these guys talk about the field I decided there was no way in hell I was going to pursue a similar career. You'd have to really love being outdoors and being involved in prairie restoration and forestry to be happy on that income. I should have just quit the internship but I stuck it out.

The Fish and Game guys out west at least had better perks to go with the job but the pay and how competitive the good jobs were not selling points. I've talked to a few of the local prairie restoration type guys and they don't seem to get paid great and have to hustle for extra grants/volunteers for half their jobs because their funding sucks.
