If Baines got in, there's no reason to keep McGriff out. Also, the career .886 OPS and the 493 career homeruns look much better knowing that he put those numbers up without chemical enhancement. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/one-and-don ... d-mcgriff/ |

Cubbie legend. I once caught a foul ball from McGriff. Good guy, hits weak foul balls to children. Definite HoG material. |

Similar (though inferior) stats to Sheffield. Both played for a lot of teams and aren't really associated with one. My guess is McGriff will go in as a Brave. |

The thing is though, McGriff is a first baseman. His numbers at the position aren't really HoF numbers. I get the desire to honor him because his accomplishments were unfairly buried by guys like Palmiero. But where next? Is Will Clark a Hall of Famer? Jack Clark? At least Baines was an elite rightfielder for a few years prior to getting injured. |

Mercy! Personally, I'd put the guy in. He had his best seasons right before the steroid era kicked in. He also played in some backwaters (Toronto, San Diego, Cub Park), so he never got as much publicity as he might have. |

As much as it pains me, I’ve completely lost interest in the Hall. |

This place is kind of like a comments section on steroids, so I never feel the need to search for those things any longer. McGriff is one of a large number of inductees for whom I would not have voted, but who are close enough to the HOF standard, that I can't really get upset. |
