That's absolutely awful timing for him. That two way player thing was fun while it lasted, but we probably just saw the end of it. |

Keep in mind Purdy recovered without Tommy John. |

who is running the Angels? How did they not at least get some good not great prospects/future trade fodder. You weren't going to get a Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers haul nowadays, unless they traded him to whatever team Dave Dombrowski's in charge of emptying out the farm system for. But still...now you miss the playoffs and you got fuck-all for the greatest player in the latest decade+...tho I guess teams still get a tiered comp pick when a guy goes free agent and signs elsewhere. So maybe getting the top tier comp pick is better than whatever offers they got for a 2 or 3 month Ohtani rental. |

He's going to have to be a full time position player or pitcher. Pick one. |

Now out for the year with an oblique. He's not getting $50m per year. |

Surprised he didn’t just shut down after the UCL, why risk costing yourself more money. |

Headed to Boston to pitch for the Red Sox, play goalie for the Bruins, shooting guard for the Celtics and catch passes from Mac Jones while being the HC of the WNBA Sun. |

I’d have to assume he got advice that hitting will not cause more damage and thus he is aboe to show he can still hit even with this injury. He is worth a lot for his hitting alone. But if GM’s question his availability to even hit, then the price and contract length go way down. |

best move might be to pull an Adrian Belew? Beltre--who I believe Belewtre had Boras as an agent at the time--and sign a prove-it 1 year deal. Beltre's bet on himself paid off and after the 1 year deal with Boston he got a 6 year deal with the Rangers. |

Hitting doesn't cause further damage and I think its something like 6 weeks after TJS they can start swinging a bat again. I guess its about 150 days they can start taking dry swings then 180 days they can hit off a tee. |

The question is whether his future team will acquire him with any expectation that he'll pitch? 2024 will essentially be the third year (2019 and almost all of 2020) he will not be available for pitching. I suspect the answer will depend on what they end up paying him. If he's getting $50 million a year, I think you have to try pitching him one last time. |

Yeah, I don’t know how teams can structure a contract without knowing if he’ll pitch. |

Yeah, I don’t know how teams can structure a contract without knowing if he’ll pitch. You could probably load up a contract with incentives if he hits certain thresholds regarding pitching. |
