He's had good years out of the pen, but I've never viewed him as a high leverage guy.

The article to which I linked said the same thing. However, it was of the opinion that they were doing it because it will be easier to convert him from starter to reliever than the other way around.

I don't see it either. I think he goes to the Giants. Bob Melvin has a solid track record of helping Asian players transition to the US game.
