If the home team bats, there are 18 half innings in a game.

I'm aware there have been a few occasions (2 i believe) where a team has scored in every single half inning

But what is the combined record? Is there a game where runs were scored in 16 of 18 innings? 14? 12?

i googled and can't seem to find an answer

I remember a game quite a while back where the Cubs allowed at least one run in every inning, but don't have an answer as to both teams scoring in every half inning. That would be a slow game.

Doubt it ever happened more than 9 innings. I'd imagine each team would have to score at least 15 or 16 runs each to carry over and continue scoring into extra innings. If it were to happen, this current era with the ghost runner to start each inning could make it possible.

From ChatGPT:

Yes, there has been at least one Major League Baseball game where each team scored a run in every inning. This rare occurrence happened on August 25, 1922, in a game between the Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies. The final score was 26-23 in favor of the Cubs. In this game:

- The Cubs scored 26 runs on 26 hits.
- The Phillies scored 23 runs on 27 hits.

Both teams managed to score at least one run in each inning they batted, resulting in a highly unusual and record-setting game in baseball history.
